10 games to go: Let's talk Arsenal for the title

My thoughts on the remaining ten games, the title race and how this season has been everything we could've dreamed of so far.

So, here we go, the final leg of the title race.

I say the final leg because we now have ten decisive games to influence the outcome of this season – which has been great regardless of how it ends.

The truth is, when I say that it’s for insurance, I think I speak for every Arsenal fan when I say I would be utterly distraught if we didn’t win the title in May.

At the same time, I can’t picture us winning it because it’s still an image locked away in my mind in the box titled ‘nice things to think about when I fall asleep’.

The reality is, we can do it.

We now find ourselves with ten games to go, ten interrupted games made up of nine weeks of stress and around 900 minutes of anxiety.

I can’t comprehend how we are here, but I look back so fondly of this season and remind myself that we are exactly we are supposed to be.

The football has been outstanding, the mentality, the fans, the manager, the away-days, everything has been superb, a crown in May would just be the cherry on top to round off a real change at the club.

A sense of Arsenal culture has been re-injected to this squad, they all seem to embody what it means to play for a club with the stature of Arsenal.

The squad carries Arsenal from our history, from the city and from the community onto the pitch, the desire and hunger to bring glory to north London is evident every week.

I mean, it’d have to be our lot doing it because no other club in the area could.

Looking towards our fixtures, we have an even split of home and away games.

On paper, the fixtures look cruel, especially the away ones with notable trips to Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle United still to come.

The thing is, I don’t fear playing away from home like I would previously, I mean why would we, when we review our away form so far this campaign.

We’ve lost two, won eleven and drawn one away from home this season, which almost mirrors our home form.

Last season, we ended with the same number of wins and losses away from home, nine, utterly horrible and a valid reason to carry anxiety when we’re on the road.

Every single game is a challenge, there’s no game that is entirely predictable in this league, particularly with the relegation battle we have going on, every point is critical for every team at this stage of the season.

We’ve heard our players and our manager come out every week to say the pressure doesn’t register with them, when quizzed about the title by the media.

I believe them to a degree, they go out every week and look like a group of mates playing football, when the pressure is on, they deliver for fun, but it must continue now we’re nearing boiling point.

We’re currently eight points clear, City have a game in hand which is worth noting, but okay then we’re five points clear.

City are serial winners, but we’ve seen gaps in their domination this season, yes they can ‘go on a 300 game winning streak if they want’, I dare them to do it.

The game at the Etihad will be one of the biggest games in our recent history, but remember they beat us at home this season and we sit here now eight points clear of them, the title can be won or lost on any match day.

I guess I’ll wrap this up by saying these will be some of the nerviest weeks of my life, of our lives, but let’s enjoy the football we get to see on a weekly basis before things get too real.

Come on you Gunners, all the way.
