Why ‘Stand Up If You Hate Tottenham’ is the Ashburton anthem

Most people have heard it enough to last a lifetime, but it’s all to counter the stewards’ attempts to get everyone on their arses.

Why ‘Stand Up If You Hate Tottenham’ is the Ashburton anthem

All ready for January 31st?

I thought I would try and clear up the "stand up if you hate totnum" business once and for all.

It has got nothing to do with wanting to sing about the marshmen non-stop (which should go without saying). In fact most of us in blocks 5 and 6 have been cringing at its overuse since day one. It is being used merely as a form of mild protest against the over-zealous stewarding in the REDsection. If you don't know the drill, once everyone stands up it tends to make the stewards or old bill give up trying to make everybody sit down - at least for a few minutes.

To everyone it has annoyed, on behalf of the REDsection, I apologise. The whole standing/stewards/grassing/ejections debate which was fairly well publicised in the pages of The Gooner seems to have calmed down a lot in recent weeks, so hopefully we will all be hearing a lot less of that song from now on!

But that doesn't mean we can just continue to bash out by-far-the-most-boring-song-the-world-has-ever-seen and turgid crap about Ashley Cole (you know who you are you big clammy-handed mentalist!), so let's get stuck into all the new players' songs. Particularly just prior to kick off, before we lose one of our favourite Arsenal traditions altogether! (take note seesaw and crew).
