Week 8 of our gambling scheme - West Brom v Arsenal

Ever onwards towards a grand

Hawthorns: Scene of this weekend’s selections

So with the aftermath of the last couple of weeks I think it’s fair to say that if we can’t be happy with Arsenal we might as well make some easy money out of them! After all it seems money is the only thing the board appear interested in, and with them making so much out of us it would be nice to make a little back. So last week we most certainly didn’t beat United 2-1 and just ended up +£10 at Betfair. So now everyone should have a bankroll of around £215 to play with.

This week we will be joining ToteSport where, once you have registered, you can deposit with either your card or Moneybookers. From this point onwards, especially if we win at the bookies and not Betfair, it’s good to get into the habit of withdrawing winnings into Moneybookers as soon as we win the bet. This way you never have to actually upload funds. Money takes up to 24 hours to get there but can be withdrawn immediately so using this as the central point can be very handy.

So after we’ve deposited £25 at Totesport click on “preferences” at the bottom left of the page and change the odds display to decimal. Then at the top left click “Football”, “Weekend matches”, “United Kingdom” and then “Barclays Premier League”. Scroll down to West Brom v Arsenal and click “More - View all”. The qualifying bet must be odds of at least evens or greater (2 or higher) Scroll down to the “Over/Under” heading and click “2.10” on the under 2.5 goals market. Place £25 on this. We have then unlocked our £25 free bet to utilise and make a profit. (Ed’s note – Your free bet will not show up straight away, but follow Russell’s instructions and it will. Close the bestslip by clicking on ‘OK’ at the bottom after this bet has gone through) Then, back on the West Brom v Arsenal game go to “correct score” and click the “8.00” by “Arsenal 2-1”. When the bet slip opens, enter £25 on Arsenal 2-1 and go to the drop down box and choose “£25 New Account Free Bet”. Make sure this is submitted. If this comes in, we will have £175 in Totesport.

At Betfair select ‘Football’ then ‘English Football’ and finally ‘Barclays Premier League’. Open up the full market for West Brom v Arsenal. Firstly, we need to lay our qualifying bet so go to the “over/under 2.5 goals” market and click the pink lay button for under 2.5 at odds “2.22”. Place £24 so just in case it does go over 2.5 goals which, with Squillaci and Koscielny at the back, could well happen, it covers us from losing £25 in the qualifying bet. After this go to the “Correct Score” market and click on the pink lay button for the Arsenal 2-1 scoreline (listed as “1-2”) and lay £15 at 10 which has £35 of liability. This then guarantees a profit no matter what with the free bet.

So Overall then -
With the qualifying bet:
- Under 2.5 goals is going to be -£1.78 (+27.50 at Totesport, -29.28 at Betfair)
- Over 2.5 goals is going to be -£1 (-25 at Totesport, +24 at Betfair)

With the Free £25 bet:
- The Arsenal win 2-1 comes in; +£40 (+175 Totesport, -135 at Betfair)
- It fails to come in; +£15 (-£25 FREE stake at Totesport, +£15 at Betfair)

So we are relying on the Gunners not keeping a clean sheet and scoring two goals, both feasible given that eventually Arsenal must find their shooting boots in earnest by the law of averages. But if not we’re guaranteed £15 off our free bet so overall you’re still looking at a profit around the £13-£14 mark. After the match no matter which website has the £s in remember to withdraw the money as soon as possible so it's ready to be recycled again next week. Once again we have made a profit no matter what the outcome, so remember…
