“Hate The Way You Lie”

“Hate The Way You Lie”

Shhhhhhhhhhhh… Arsene, you gotta listen…

If you haven’t heard the song “Love the way you lie”, by Rihanna (featuring Eminem), here’s a link). What follows then might make a little more sense, I hope…

You came in 1996
Won the Double ‘98
At first; they all asked “Arsene who?”
You didn’t give them long to wait
Built a winning team
Every Gooner’s dream
Double won again
Title at the Lane
Inscribed Arsenal in the history books
When we didn’t lose a game

The project’s failed, but you just don’t learn
Created an empire, now we stand and watch it burn
Rely on youth and refuse to buy
So we can’t take any more spin
We hate the way you lie
We hate the way you lie…. oooohhh
Hate the way you lie….

You moved us to a new stadium
We said goodbye to Highbury
We were told it would help us compete
Write new pages of history
But it’s been seven years
And in all that time
The way we’ve thrown trophies away
Has been a crime
And whilst you’re still in denial
All we’re left with is the pain

The project’s failed, but you just don’t learn
Created an empire, now we stand and watch it burn
Rely on youth and refuse to buy
So we can’t take any more spin
We hate the way you lie
We hate the way you lie…. oooohhh
Hate the way you lie…. oooohhh

So maybe I’m ungrateful
Says the defiant A-K-B
But the evidence is mounting
Gotta change your philosophy

I remember Bergkamp, Ljungberg, Vieira, Parlour, Henry
Legends loved were David, Nigel, Tony, Bobby, Martin, Lee
Each one a warrior, fought to make a legacy
Playing without doubt the best football that you will ever see
Sublime defence attached to stunning creativity

Now how can you tell us that Diaby, Eboue, Squillaci
Are your best ever squad?
There ain’t no sense, just incredulity
The pattern is the same, and it is causing Gooner misery
Stop deluding yourself, you fooled nobody at Wembley

It happened many years ago, when you were boss at Monaco
You started to obsess with youth, eventually you had to go
So how did it all come to this? Please explain, ‘cause I just don’t know
But another season like the last will hit me like a body blow
You’re destroying what you helped to build
And now it’s just “The Arsene Show”.

Close down the laboratory, we can’t keep on going with the flow
The talent keeps on leaving, while you promise better tomorrow
Let’s start living for the here and now or sink without a trace below
Or this chapter in our story will be coming to a bitter close

So now it’s the time of reckoning, this club was here before you came
You did great things, now it’s f***ed up; please think it though ‘cause it’s a shame
Time to clear out all the dead wood, teach the basics of the game
Buy quality, experience, or ‘fess up now and take the blame

The project’s failed, but you just don’t learn
Created an empire, now we stand and watch it burn
Rely on youth and refuse to buy
So we can’t take any more spin
We hate the way you lie
We hate the way you lie…. oooohhh
You lie….. hate the way you lie….

Half-Time yesterday in Cologne, young Carl Jenkinson has just scored a howler of an own-goal & the half-time whistle has sounded almost immediately. Not one single player on the field went up to him, he was left to trudge off on his tod, until he was approached by Samir Nasri of all people. Team spirit ??? What f***ing team spirit. Now I'm hearing Wenger will go back to Everton with an improved offer for Jagielka, look Arsene, either pay the amount they want or go elsewhere. We're all fed up with Barcelona pissing us about, but we're not adverse to doing the same to other clubs it would seem.

Well done. That was time well spent. I'm sure after Arsene reads this, as he reads articles from this website daily, that he'll start announcing our transfers publicly which would be a much better situation of us being outbidded on all our targets. Top work.

Howard, I think I've proved I can't do rap either... just tried a bit of tongue in cheek satire... anyway, can't stop, on my way out, as suggested...

Look lets get realistic, no established star will come to the emirates. It is a hard but bitter pill to swallow the wages that would be demanded would cripple. Wenger has continually brought us a top four finish on a budget winning trophies in the process. Yes seven years without a trophy is hard but having no gunners to support would be harder. chelsea and city live outside their means utd too. Yes we all know where we need to improve and wenger does too. Experience we need a defender too. Let fabregas go he served us well. Nasri well let him rot hes not hot to trot. Put things into perspective against the spending might of chelsea utd and now city we have been kept competitve with the very policy you now ridicule there have been chances but failure at the final hurdle yes its diappointing and frustrating yet champions league we still have. Though if I were wenger I may take a loss in qualifying and compete for the uefa cup for an easier trophy.lets cut the deadwood of bedntner and co buy some quality replacements even if their young and lets move on. We have plenty to look forward Myachi gervinho look good Lansbury plent of promise to fulfill and eventually frimpong to replace song.

Spot on. Plan B now long overdue. Or any plan. I can't do rap but for me personally, I've long believed that many of our current problems stem from poor Eddie's horrific injury at Birmingham. Arsenal were bullied long before that but had somehow survived, but that day the youth project's fundamental weaknesses were exposed for all to see. Hence the injuries, the lack of cover, and the end of season collapses and Arsene has done nothing to counter it.

the problem isnt buying youth but buying good youths is the issue.

Haha. Good effort....but bit harsh. Eg Youve just compared the best players in that era Bergkamp, Henry, Ljungberg and have just compared them to the weaker players in this generation eboue, Diaby, Squillaci. Well why not do it the other way around and compare Cesc, VP, Nasri to the weaker players at that time, Wreh, Luzhny etc etc. Twisting things to suit what you are saying!

My thoughts summed up in those lyrics. His recent comments on the strength of our defence were somewhat worrying. Yet i harbour hope that he will, in this transfer window :purchase a centre half of note. A combative midfielder of experience, keep hold of nasri and replace fab. Yes ever the optimist.

Dear TFG, I say this with the greatest of respect but I suggest you get out more (and I don't mean to next weeks Emirates Cup weekend either)cos Lennon, McCartney or Dylan you certainly are not!!! PS Bring some milk with you next week for your cup of tea because Arsene hasn't signed any ("I believe in the milk we have at the stadium, if I sign some more milk then we kill the young milk we already have. My milk has great mental stength.....")!

So very true. Brilliant piece of work tfg. But, sadly, I don't think he will take any notice: he still thinks he is right and nobody can tell him.
