Mertesacker: Will he help keep a clean sheet?

With the addition of Metesacker and Santos it would appear that whilst we’re still lacking depth our starting back four could be the strongest we’ve seen in years. The loss of Vermaelen is a massive blow but nevertheless Saturday’s opponents Swansea are yet to score in the Barclays Premier League, so even if Koscielny is starting there is still hope for the Gunners. Swansea have a strong belief in getting the ball down and playing so if they bring this philosophy to the E******s surely it will play into our hands. On top of this the international break and deadline day signings should mean the morale has been boosted after the embarrassment at Old Trafford. Surely there couldn’t be a better team for us to play and I can see Arsenal scoring at least a couple of goals. The only important thing, for me, will be to avoid complacency after the win as we are still far from the finished article.

This week I’m joining Betdaq which you can get to via this link. Similar to Betfair they are a betting exchange and offer a useful alternative should Betfair ever let me down and you urgently need to lay a bet. The liquidity in the markets isn’t as strong as Betfair and thus the odds can sometimes be a little worse. But still they’re offering a free bet up to the value of £30 and Moneybookers is fine to use. So similar to the 188bet offer we utilised a couple of weeks ago our stake will be included in our returns and instead of being granted a promotional offer we will be refunded our initial betting stake if we lose. There are a couple of important things to note in that you must ensure the promo code ALLBDQ02 is filled in (it should be automatically but make sure) and that if our bet loses the £30 we are granted can’t simply be withdrawn and we’ll need to back and lay in another market after the Swansea game to guarantee a profit.

Once signed in go to “Soccer”, “English Soccer”, “Barclays Premier League 2011/12” and you’ll see Arsenal v Swansea. (Ed’s note, this assumes you are on the exchange bet tab, which is the best place to place the bet) Select correct score market from the column on the left of the page. Despite our hammering at Old Trafford we were able to keep a clean sheet against Newcastle and as I mentioned earlier Swansea are having real trouble scoring in the Premier League. So for that reason I’m opting for 2-0 to the Gunners. As I backed this at Betdaq with £30 it had odds of 7.2 meaning the potential profit was £186. (Ed’s note, 7.8 when I placed it, even better)

At Betfair find the Arsenal v Swansea correct score market and lay the 2-0. This had odds of 8 as I did this with £20 meaning it had a potential liability of £140 and leaving the following outcomes...

-Arsenal win 2-0: +£46 (+186 at Betdaq, - 140 at Betfair)

-Arsenal don’t win 2-0: +£20 (-30 at Betdaq but refunded, +20 at Betfair)

So if the 2-0 comes in we’ll need to quickly move the winnings back to our Moneybookers or Betfair accounts and it’s onwards and upwards to the next bookie but if it loses there’s still a bit more to be done to extract a profit from Betdaq.

Blue SQ

For those that made a good £26 profit from Blue SQ let’s not forget they are also offering a follow up of four free £10 bets, so let’s make sure we unlock our first of these. Log back in to your Blue SQ accounts and withdraw any excess money above the £10 because as I’ve mentioned before you can always deposit funds into bookies instantly but of course withdrawing them is a bit more hassle and can take a few days.

With the remaining £10 back an Arsenal win v Swansea which had odds of 1.36 as I did this. At Blue SQ qualifying bets have to be at odds of at least 1.25 so if these shorten below that mark then there are plenty of other short odds which can be used.

At Betfair lay an Arsenal win with £10. When I did this the odds were 1.39 meaning we’ll either be 0 or -30p but with a £10 free bet to utilise at Blue SQ next week.
