The Arsenal Ex-Pro and Celebrity XI

Okay, okay, guilty as charged. I have been a little creative with the title and sub-head of this piece, if only to ensure it is read. A long time ally of The Gooner, Andrew Farley, is currently one of the coaches of the Arsenal Ex-Pro and Celebrity XI, and has asked us for a plug for this particular match, due to the cause that benefits being one that he has taken a special interest in, and wants the afternoon to be an especially successful one.

The match will be done and dusted before the first team kick off at West Brom, so make it a double if you are not going to the Hawthorns and watch the charity game live before the main event on the box. So without the further ado, here’s the press release related to the game at London Colney…

On Sunday 13th May 2012 the Arsenal Charity Team will be taking on Bailey’s All Stars at London Colney Football Club. Included in the Arsenal squad are Paul Davies, Ian Selly and Jimmy Carter (all Ex Arsenal), Lucien Laviscount (Celebrity Big Brother), Ziggy Litchman (Big Brother), Terry Marsh (Ex World Boxing Champion), Patrick Robinson (Casualty) and Charlie Hawkins (Eastenders). Bailey’s All Stars will include a few familiar faces including Calum Best. The match is to raise money for Bailey Sarwa, a 13 year old Arsenal supporting boy who is suffering from Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer that affects the nerve ends. Unable to have an operation in this country his family needs to raise £500,000 for potentially lifesaving antibody treatment abroad. In the meantime he is receiving chemotherapy while the money is being raised. The match kicks off at 1.00pm. It is all part of a family fun day which includes face painting, free street dance lessons and a kids penalty competition. Gates open at 11am.

Admission is £5 adults & £1 children (babies and toddlers admitted free of charge).
