Win Arsenal Books

Eyes on the prize

Ok, so Carlton Books, the publishing company that produce Arsenal’s official books are on a publicity drive and have offered us five copies of The Official Arsenal Book of Records as competition prizes.

Here is the blurb from the publisher’s website The Official Arsenal FC Football Records is the most comprehensive one-stop reference book for an Arsenal fan to own. Every single major record and statistic in the more than 100 years of the club can found within these pages, all superby illustrated with great action shots. From the legendary teams created by Herbert Chapman in the 1930s, through the Fairs Cup and double-winning squads of the 1960s/70s and George Graham's double champions of the 1980s to the Arsene Wenger era since 1996, this volume is packed with information that gives proof that Arsenal FC is truly a very special Club. As well as all of the club and player records, there is a special section devoted to 10 legends, men who made Arsenal Football Club a British institution.

It’s an annual sized hardback 160 pages thick that retails for £16.99, although you can buy it from online retailers for as little as £11.55. It’s a great flick through kind of book with many great photographs. As this exercise is a plug for Carton Books in return for their donating the prizes (a further five copies will be up for grabs in issue 240 of The Gooner out in mid-January), there are four other books they have produce recently…

The Official Arsenal Supporter's Book
The Official Arsenal Ultimate Young Gunners' Book for younger readers,
and for even younger Gooners, these two -
The Official Arsenal Sticker Activity Book
& The Official Arsenal Sticker Colouring Book

So down to the business of winning one of the five copies of the Book of Records then. Winners to be announced here on the website on Thursday morning, meaning deadline for entries is 10pm tomorrow evening (Wednesday).

To enter, answer the following question –
Which player holds the record for the highest number of league appearances for Arsenal?
a) Tony Adams
b) George Armstrong
c) David O’Leary

Email your answer to [email protected].

And if you don’t win, you can pick up a copy in the flesh signed by Martin Keown who is doing a book signing for The Official Arsenal Book of Records this Friday (20th December) at The Arsenal store in Brent Cross Shopping centre from 6.30 to 8pm.

Good luck.

jed, I've met him on a couple of occasions, the second time got him to sigh my programme again anyway i was trying to find my sharpy and he asked do you want it bloody signed or not or words to that effect, it was late on and he was on his way home or maybe it was just me, but i'm sure he's not like that all the time or won't be on the 20th.

maguirebridge. Probably because it's a book of records, Wilshere is on the front due to the fact at sixteen he was the youngest ever player to play for us in a league game. In fact Frank Mclintock is the only non record holder on the cover, though he was skipper for our first double.

Would be very nice to meet Martin though, we met his sister at Cardiff when we played the FA Cup.

Very true maguiresbridge, but I'll tell you something, just look at Frank. Doesn't he look the man! Would be a nice book to have, I am sure.

Should be a good read especially the section devoted to 10 legends. But what is Wilshire doing on the cover with the other greats he's done nothing and hasn't earned that right yet.
