68% of Arsenal fans want Wenger out

An FA Cup is not enough?

68% of Arsenal fans have run out of patience with Arsene Wenger, according to Ladbrokes.

A poll of 400 fans run by Ladbokes News reveals that only 32% of those asked wanted to persevere with the manager, with the remainder keen to see a new man brought in to revive the fortunes of the Gunners, who now find themselves out to 40/1 for the title.

The shortlist for his replacement should offer some hope to disgruntled supporters, with Jurgen Klopp the 12/1 favourite from Pep Guardiola and Ronald Koeman at 14/1. Everton's Roberto Martinez, who has previously been favourite to fill the Emirates hot seat drifts to 20/1.

There may be some light at the end of the tunnel yet however as the bookies rate Arsenal as odds-on shots at 1/2 to finish in the top four again this season.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Arsenal fans' patience is clearly wearing thin. We expected the survey to be closer, but it seems Wenger's supporters are very much in the minority despite the betting suggesting he should steer them to another top four finish."

He added: "The list of replacements is a who's who of top European managerial talent. We can't imagine too many fans would be upset if Klopp came in to replace Wenger."

Based on track record and opposition quality, I would be extremely surprised if we didn't make the top 4 come the end of the season.

A change is needed but we will not find the manager we want mid season. We will have to wait and hope that the board see sense and retires Wenger at the end of the season. For now a limited transfer budget will be seen in January with one defender joining and it will not be a name we know. It will be a budget buy. Even with the signing of a defender we will not be a top four finish. I can see us finishing fifth or sixth.

@Jokes - please bore off with the AKB, messiah, etc drivel. I'm not an AKB, he isn't my messiah, I don't belong to a cult. (You sound like you've been reading too much Myles Palmer and repeating other people's lines.) I just want my beloved Arsenal to make the right choice, not some convenient name thrown into a list by the bookies that sounds good on paper. Since you offer me advice, I'll offer you some - don't ever question my support or 'how much of a real fan' I am. You don't know me. If you did, you wouldn't come out with such drivel as go and support another club when Wenger leaves. It's insulting and horribly wide of the mark.

@Jokes- I suggest you read what I wrote. I said one or two might improve us, the rest come with no guarantee. Those one or two are Gaudiola and Klopp. (Check Klopp's current league position before getting carried away.) I love Dennis with more passion than you could possibly realise, but the man doesn't fly. How does that work for a top manager playing across Europe? Think it through before dishing out insults. Tony Adams is also a club legend, but is he the answer? No. Club legend doesn't equal the answer. As I keep saying, I'm not averse to change, but some of the names lightly tossed around are a bit silly.

Good post from Paul35mm. When Wenger does go it should be done correctly. tpm, your post is in some ways a case in support of Wenger - As many on here may know, I have defended Wenger in the past and whilst we all know that he is far from perfect, the alternatives do not really inspire. Obviously there will come a time when he will be replaced and that time is getting ever closer. But one of the main worries, is will his replacement actually do any better? Back to tpm's comment re Man U's worst season challenged only by this season. They have replaced Ferguson with a great manager right? . . When he goes it needs to be done right and the replacement needs to be considered very carefully. And finally, all you instant-success seekers need to give the new man a chance... can you do that? Based on what I read in these forums, I am doubtful. I am fairly certain that Badarse, Rocky, Westie amongst other so called AKBs will accept a new manager with grace and be willing to give them the chance they deserve. We are after all, lifelong Arsenal supporters.

If that's what 400 fans want, well it must be true! Lies, damn lies & statistics spring to mind. Repeat the same survey should we beat Man U on the 22nd, 68% will want Wenger to stay, such is the volatile nature of football fans. We hate to lose, boo, hoo!

can any of the 32% come up with a reason why Wenger should stay? I have yet to hear one.

Some of the braindead muppets that follow this club never ceases to amaze me. ROCKY RIP is a fine example, claiming that a list featuring Jurgen Klopp (who has won 2 Bundesliga titles and a double in the past 5 years), Pep Guardiola (who has won everything in club football), and Dennis Bergkamp a club legend is "uninspiring". Absolutely hilarious the desperate length these AKBs will go to concoct some rubbish argument for their lord Messiah. Arsenal should "take as long as possible to get it right"? What so the fans that want a serious team have to put up with another 2 years of ballsed up transfer windows, poor players, total lack of tactics and arrogant mismanagement? Nope. No way. Wenger needs to leave ASAP. AKBs are getting desperate but the end of your messiah is in sight. And one more piece of advice: once we are finally shot of the useless Wenger, I sincerely hope that all of you AKBs will bugger off and follow him on to whatever other club he manages for you are not Arsenal fans, you are cult-worshiping clowns only comfortable living in Wenger's rectum.

@JAMIE: Love your optimism, mate. However, in case you haven't watched the Arsenal closely in the past few years, our victories come against the likes of Aston Villa, Burnley, Galatasay etc. Beating one of the Manchester teams or a Mourhino-led Chelsea seems like wishful thinking at the moment. Also, no one is talking about sacking him on the spot, mostly beacuse it is obvious no one of matter at the club currently has an idea of a replacement. The board has until May to select a shortlist of two or three candidates and try to bring one of them.

paul35mm, you got it right there buddy. I also expect us to move to the mid table permanently as we no longer compete for the top spot. Like Liverpool, we can boast about our glorious past unless a Suarez comes and lifts us back.

The last thing I would do if I wanted a balanced decision on something very important would be to ask a regular customer or associate of Ladbrokes or Ladbokes! Appreciate that there is something drastically wrong and very sad going on with The Arsenal and football in the premier league but we certainly won't get any helpful guidance from this useless bit of information. 400 people isn't many is it. I'm surprised Kevin let this article through the Gooner portcullis. So on to the end of the season, will Wenger leave who knows, or can anyone at the club change his ways and get him to pay good money for quality players. I doubt it.

By the look on the old frauds face that was when the one and only Jacqui was interviewing him. So the dark side is looking a lot brighter after all 70% want the old has been out they've finally run out of patience, it's took them long enough, a lot of us did a long time ago (and it's was/is obvious why) welcome to the real world folks. I wonder what the old fraud thinks of that he'll probably dismiss it as irrelevant like the rest of his flock but it wont do his ego much good all the same. And for those who think he can't be replaced and are always asking who can? (and you can get Des O'Connor to help you if you like) take your pick.

Wow, 32% want to keep Wenger, are they insane or gluttons for punishment? Do they enjoy paying the highest prices in the world and then watch a tactically clueless manager ensure humiliation after humiliation, year after year or have Spurs/Chelsea/Man U fans infiltrated that survey?

I'm not saying there isn't anyone who can do better job than Wenger, but really, that list is very uninspiring. A few years ago Harry Rednapp and Owen Coyle were genuinely being touted. How many of them would you confidently back to go every season for 18 straight years qualifying for the CL? One or two 'might' improve us, the others, with respect, are a bit of a joke. (Don't managers have to fly a lot for starters?) If people moan about Wenger, there'll be mutiny if at least half that lot got hold of our team and the disappointing results started coming in. I'm not averse to change, but we need to take as long as it needs to get it right. Not some unproven, convenient name that's doing the rounds after a good start at a new club.

It's only because the survey was conducted just after the Swansea defeat.Conduct another survey after say a victory over manure and you'd probably get 70% in favour of Wenger.Plus Arsenal are still third favourites for the title.

Arsene Wenger is not going to be replaced and the Arsenal board would be idiots to do it. Very rarely do mid-season managerial changes bear fruit, Wenger has made Arsenal the club it is, and without him, the Gunners would be Liverpool; A big club with a glorious past and facing an uncertain future trying to compete against the bottomless wallets of the oligarchs. If it is really time to make a change, then after the season would be the proper time to do it, with Wenger gracefully retiring to the front office. That probably won't happen either as he just signed a new three-year contract.
