Gooners pay tribute to David Bowie

Special Podcast recorded on Monday evening

Gooners pay tribute to David Bowie

Rest in Peace

Ok, so let me explain. On Monday evening, after we recorded the monthly podcast for The Gooner (details here), three of us – myself (Twitter@KevinWhitcher01), Marc Ollington (Twitter@MarcOllington) and Steve Ashford, thought we would just chat for a while about the life and work of David Bowie to mark his passing. A kind of personal tribute from the three of us to a musician who had given us a lot of pleasure through his music and performances over the years.

The result can be heard here.

We mention it on this exclusive, because it would be good if non-Arsenal fans that like Bowie were able to hear it, and by posting this exclusive on onlinegooner, it will hopefully be picked up by the NewsNow David Bowie feed and more fans will be aware of its existence.

And in fairness, if Arseblog can devote a day’s blog to the subject, then we trust not too many will object to our using the onlinegooner website just to publicise the existence of this hour of reminiscence.

So, no Arsenal content, just three Gooners who loved Bowie and his music sat round a table remembering. If that’s your bag, we hope you enjoy and spread word that this exists via social media using the following link: http://tinyurl.com/ztkttkk

Once again, the link to listen to this special tribute podcast is here.

For God's sake, mbg, just for once in your miserable life, why don't you stop moaning? Or at least keep your misery to yourself? RIP Bowie, a true legend,

jjetplane:What you call dull trolling I would call the truth.I like some pop music myself even though the people who make it I wouldn't care to spend anytime with, the same way I like watching Arsenal yet I wouldn't care to want to talk to any of the players or even Wenger as their conversation would be too vain and dull for me to lower myself to their level. In fact I'd rather speak to you or a homeless person than spend time talking to some puffed up celebrity. As far as Wedboro concerned cheap shot as I've already answered that one, foolish cult who believe a false gospel.Righteous Lot hated even the talk of the wicked and was the only good person who lived in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the rest were all sexual deviants,God rained fire and brimstone on those two cities which was a shadow of judgement to come shortly to this world. The bible says the first judgement shall be by water ie:the days of Noah the second shall be by fire ie:final judgement..2nd Peter 3:states: ‘First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, ‘where is this “coming” he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.’ But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and with water. By water also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Arseblog could devote (and have done)a full blog to anything from shelling peas to boiling an egg, just like some on here have tried to do and thankfully failed.

Remember well going to Hammersmith gig '73 with uncanny permanence of sitting in the rafters watching the Spiders dissolve .... Think I was wearing orange and black platform shoes and had a velvet jacket with butterflies on it - Malcolm Hall Upper St. What colour platforms did you wear Jamerson? '... story goes/they wore the clothes/to make it seem improbable ...' ps plenty of fatigue/in da premier league .... NOT!

Jamerson's dull trolling ala Westboro in evidence but yes Mr Bowie was a top bloke and remember well when Space Oddity (geddit!) came out (oh dear) and his output up to Aladdin Sane was of such an immensity of cosmological cut-up that he is kind of like Bach and Shakespeare in the sense how we are still trying to catch up with Hunky Dory as we are a Shakespeare play or a Bach suite. That he did with a London blokie voice makes him that much cooler. Plenty of his songs in my head over the last two days and these lines 'lay me place and bake me pie/I'm starving for me gravy/leave my shoes and door unlocked/I might just slip away ay .... does for me - pure genius! Bit like Bobby Pires against Villa ....

We are all different, all have our own directions that we take along life's highway. Lennon was for me a special person as he was arguably the trailblazer, but Bowie meant as much to his devotees. He had a non political stance but the basic message of 'challenge and be yourself', was a pretty important tenet. I really liked his music-a wonderfully innovative artist and can understand the sense of loss experienced by his real fans-the three guys on this tribute/chat were real fans, and classy ones too. Enjoy people.

Look forward to hearing it. In the same way that I idolised Charlie George and Liam Brady in the 70's, the soundtrack to that decade and forever more was Bowie. Losing Bowie would be like Arsenal not playing anymore, a void that can never be replaced.
