I’ve thought of a way for Arsenal to lower match day prices and still make money. I don’t know how feasible it would be, but here’s my suggestion…
Assuming the stadium is currently divided as follows:
Upper tier – 26,000
Club & Middle tier – 10,000
Lower tier – 24,000
The lower tier at the Grove could have the “Arsenal seat” removed and replaced with smaller seats. This could (from rough estimate) create an extra 10,000 seats at the stadium without affecting the design. These lower tier seats could cost £5 less than the current price.
If the current average ticket price in the lower tier is £40, then revenue per game (ticket sales only) in this section would increase by approx £25,0000 (approx £6.5million a season).
Benefits of this:
Arsenal get more revenue, always welcome
More tickets become available to fans, including some who have been priced out of going to football for so long.
The other alternative is to change the stands behind the goals (upper and lower) into smaller seats, leaving the middle (most expensive) sections as the larger seats. This would create a similar level of increased capacity and revenue.
