Diaby and Denilson streets ahead of Flamini

The Arsenal midfield mystery – why was Matty Flamini given the nod against Fulham?

Diaby and Denilson streets ahead of Flamini

Flamini – Above more talented options in the pecking order?

What special hold over Le Boss does Flamini have? Here’s a bloke who refused to play as an auxiliary full back now being indulged in central midfield from the off. Why? Is Wenger the most indulgent father figure ever? Is he trying to prove a point to us or to Flamini? Have Denilson and Diaby been caught smoking behind the bike sheds?

More importantly why gamble with points at the start of the season? Diaby and Denilson are streets ahead in what they offer. Matty Flamini seems a perfectly nice bloke. Happy to run all day long and chip in a scruffy goal, but midfield enforcer he is not.

Nothing has been said. Neither Diaby or Denilson are listed as injured but neither played against Fulham or appear in the squad against Sparta. Christ, Alexander Song makes it on. It's as if it's still the la de dah days of pre-season. Suck it and see, eh? No bloody thanks.

And we’re off to Blackburn on Sunday. A fixture made for hard grafting, bone crunching, ball winning warriors. And they’ll be narked we’re trying to poach Pedersen. A mystery that needs to be solved before we start dribbling away the usual points on the road.

Next mystery – why play one up front for so long against Fulham?

And how about £10 on Bendtner to be this season’s cult hero.
