Just a quick post to announce a competition.
Publishers Century have given us a copy of Amy Lawrence’s new book ‘89’ as a prize for one lucky onlinegooner reader.
The book, on the subject of Arsenal’s legendary title-winning 2-0 victory at Anfield against Liverpool, retails for £20 and comes a year after the release of the excellent ‘89’ documentary film, in which Amy was heavily involved. It goes into far greater depth in the interviews with the Arsenal players and staff involved, as well as getting the accounts of fans – and there are some great stories.
Here’s the press release for the book:
“Every Arsenal fan knows the story of the 1989, the year George Graham lead the likes of Lee Dixon, Tony Adams, David ‘Rocky’ Rocastle and Paul Merson to First Division glory, finishing the league with a never-seen-before (and never-seen-since!) title deciding match against high flying Liverpool FC.
The story has never been told like this though! Legendary Arsenal fan Amy Lawrence, journalist and author of Invincible: Inside Arsenal's Unbeaten 2003-2004 Season, will be releasing a new book, 89: Arsenal’s Greatest Moment, Told in Our Own Words (3rd October, hardback, Century, £20). This is a new, candid testimony from the players, management, backroom staff, the media and fans all over the world about this era-defining match with nostalgic tales and brilliant anecdotes that even Amy hadn’t heard before. This book brilliantly details why 26th of May 1989 was so much more than a football match, for both Arsenal and sport fans alike.”
So to enter the competition to win the book, just email your answer to the following question to [email protected] by the end of Wednesday next week (9th October).
Who played in the number 11 shirt for Arsenal in the game at Anfield?
A – Paul Merson
B – Kevin Richardson
C – Steve Bould
We’ll announce the winner on the website at the conclusion of the first article we run after 9th October, and there will be a review of the book next week as well.
Good luck!
