Arsenal Women will have to overcome a 1-0 first leg deficit in order to qualify for the Champions League after losing 1-0 to BK Hacken in Gothenburg.

Jonas Eidevall’s side were wasteful in front of goal at the Bravida Arena, and were punished in the 77th minute when Tabitha Tindell chipped Manu Zinsberger.

The second leg will take place at Meadow Park next Thursday.

Player ratings:

Manu Zinsberger 4.5/10

Continues to keep Daphne van Domselaar waiting for her first Arsenal outing. Had to be quick off her line on occasion and should have conceded to Clarissa Larisey, who put a sitter into the side-netting. Chipped by Tabitha Tindell in the 77th minute.

Katie McCabe 4/10

Combative up against Hanna Wijk. Caught high up the pitch for Hacken’s goal, exploiting the space in behind.

Laia Codina 4/10

Booked in the first half for a cynical foul and struggled one-on-one as a result, not wanting to risk a second yellow.

Lotte Wubben-Moy 4.5/10

Replaced Leah Williamson in defence. Steady on the ball but Arsenal were run ragged on the counter-attack.

Emily Fox 5/10

Got up and down on the right before being replaced with 20 minutes remaining. Has played a lot of football through the summer for club and country, one of Arsenal’s busiest players.

Kyra Cooney-Cross 6/10

Becoming a consistent performer in Arsenal's midfield. One of the better performers for the Gunners on the night.

Kim Little 5.5/10

Tidy on the ball, linking up midfield and attack.

Mariona Caldentey 4.5/10

Drifted into central positions to link up with Kafaji but was kept quiet as the games progressed.

Rosa Kafaji 5/10

Very good with the ball at her feet, skipping past her former teammates. Almost put Arsenal in front when she smashed a shot off the crossbar. Hooked at half-time by Jonas Eidvall.

Beth Mead 4.5/10

Came in for Caitlin Foord on the right wing but struggled to make an impact. Denied by a brilliant point-blank save by Jennifer Falk.

Alessia Russo 4.5/10

Had a number of decent chances

Frida Maanum (Sub, half-time) 5/10

Replaced Kafaji at the interval and tried to take the game to Hacken. Booked for shoving an opponent as Arsenal’s frustration grew. Headed onto the crossbar in injury time.

Caitlin Foord (Sub, 70’)

Laura Wienroither (Sub, 70’)

Emily Fox (Sub, 70’)

Leah Williamson (Sub, 77’)

Subs not used: Daphne van Domselaar, Naomi Williams, Lia Walti, Kathrine Kuhl, Freya Godfrey, Laila Harbert, Katie Reid.
