Thomas Partey has informed his advisors he wants to seal a transfer to Arsenal this summer according to reports from Ghana.
Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Partey, a Ghana international since 2016, is available for around £44m thanks to a release clause in his contract, due to expire in 2023.
While Atletico are keen to renegotiate his contract in a bid to increase his transfer value, if Arsenal were to stump up the cash they could land the 26-year-old this summer.
Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta has identified influential defensive pivot Partey as one of his main targets, but, despite his squad agreeing to a 12.5 per cent pay cut, finding £44m could yet prove tricky - due to the squeeze on the Gunners finances after revenues have been slashed due to the lack of matchday and television income caused by the Covid-19 pandemic
However, GhanaSoccerNet insist Partey is keen to ply his trade in London - snubbing suitors French champs PSG in the process – as he dreams of emulating his compatriot Michael Essien, by impressing in the Premier League for a club in the capital.
