Arsenal have made their first summer signing according to reports coming out of Norway.
Teenage starlet George Lewis is believed to have put pen to paper for the Gunners after impressing on trial earlier this year.
The 19-year-old is a free agent after leaving Norwegian side Fram Larvik and the north Londoners would not be required to pay a fee to sign the talented teen.
News of the signing comes from Larvik’s sporting director Jostein Jensen, who revealed to media outlet VG.no: “Yes, we can confirm [the deal]. I have been told that he has signed for Arsenal.”
The youngster spent two weeks on loan with the Gunners earlier this year and attended Arsenal’s 1-0 win against West Ham on March 7 as a guest of the club in what turned out to be their last game before the coronavirus pandemic gripped the planet.
Lewis – who hails from Rwanda but is eligible to play for Norway - was initially handed a week's trial, but he shone enough to convince the club to push the assessment into an extra seven days.
While the Kigali-born left winger impressed Arteta during his trial at Colney, it is expected Lewis will link up with Steve Bould’s U23 side - where he will compete for a place in Arleta’s first team set-up as the head coach is keen to add more creativity to his side this summer, regardless of age.
