Arsenal are back in Premier League action with a tough trip to Manchester City on Wednesday night, but who will be the dangermen as Mikel Arteta looks to pull off a shock on his return to the Etihad? 

Nicolas Pepe 

It’s been an up and down debut campaign for the club’s record signing, but the Ivorian has shown glimpses of his undoubted ability.  

Arsenal will need Pepe to be at his best if they want to take anything back to north London, and the former Lille man will be key to exploiting space left down the right-hand side. 

City will inevitably commit plenty of men forward, leaving ample room for the Gunners to hit them on the break and cause problems when they win the ball back. 

Arsenal fans will be hoping Pepe’s adaptation to the Premier League continues with a stellar performance on Wednesday night. 

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 

On the opposite flank, the Gunners will need their captain firing on all cylinders to pick up a result at the Etihad. 

Aubameyang will have to get through plenty of work both forwards and backwards, but more importantly, Arsenal will need him to take the chances that fall his way. 

With 17 Premier League goals this season the Gabon international may have to do what he has done for most of the campaign and win the game on his own. 

Dani Ceballos 

Having forced his way back into Arteta’s plans with a string of impressive performances, the Spaniard will be tasked with supplying attacks from his deep-lying midfield position. 

Arsenal have looked better going forward with Ceballos in the team and he must link with the likes of Pepe, Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil to get the Gunners on the front foot. 

Despite an uncertain future, the Real Madrid loanee will be focused on helping his current team get a result on Wednesday night. 

Kieran Tierney 

With the Scottish defender back from injury and in contention to start, his delivery from wide areas could be key for the Gunners if he is picked by Arteta. 

It’s been a frustrating first season in north London for Tierney, who has made just five Premier League appearances since his summer move from Celtic, but he will be hoping to finish the campaign strongly. 

In his limited minutes though he has shown how dangerous his crosses into the area can be, adding an extra dimension to Arsenal’s attack when he has room to break forward.
