Arsenal have officially revealed their new adidas home kit.

The club released images of the red and white strip on Thursday morning amid much fanfare.

Among the players to be captured in the stunning new shirts were Leah Williamson, along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alex Lacazette, Sead Kolasinac, Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Tierney.

Captain Aubameyang featured heavily in the shots which were taken before the coronavirus pandemic struck.

The 31-year-old £56m record signing prompted speculation that he will sign a new deal after the Gunners agreed to heavily promote the former Borussia Dotrmund striker.

Aubameyang has yet to sign as extension to his contract which has a year to run.

However Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been bullish in public this summer in his pronouncements hoping the Gabon forward will put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club for the rest of his career – with the Gunners top scorer pictured in the new shirt giving hope to supporters everywhere that he will stay.

The new shirts will feature in Arsenal’s final Premier League game of the season against Watford on Sunday and in the FA Cup Final against Chelsea a week on Saturday at Wembley.

The club also revealed Bukayo Saka will wear No7, while new centre back William Saliba has been handed No4 for next season.

The new shirts are a nod to the north London giants 1930s and 1940s art deco designs with an adidas spokesman explaining: “Paying homage to Arsenal’s geometric crest which the club used from 1936–1949, the chevron graphic on the home jersey is inspired by the ‘A’ within.

"It is also a nod to the layout of the tiling on the floors of the East Stand’s famous marble halls – the historical home of Arsenal before its 2006 move to the Emirates Stadium.”
