On Thursday morning, the Gooner was informed by a source that the club had made the shock decision to relieve Sanllehi of his duties.

A call was made to Arsenal that afternoon about the head of football's possible departure, but the news was denied.

Another call to the club regarding the Spaniard's future was put in by the Gooner on Friday, but they again denied he was leaving.

Then, news broke on Saturday lunchtime that Sanllehi had left the club, with managing director Vinai Venkatesham set to lead the club going forward.

Reports following the head of football's departure claimed that the power he held over transfers during his tenure would be passed to head coach Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu.

Just hours after Sanllehi's exit on Saturday afternoon, the Gooner was informed by our source deep inside the club that contract negotiator Huss Fahmy could be next to go as part of the club's efforts to streamline recruitment.

No official statement regarding Fahmy's future has been made by the club at the time of writing.
