It's official! Arsenal have signed a player with a surname beginning in the letter 'A'!

Midfielder Tim Akinola has signed for the Gunners after departing Championship side Huddersfield Town at the end of last season.

While many Arsenal fans may have been angling for another name starting with the letter 'A' - the talented teen has impressed in the Terriers youth set-up.

Tim might not be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - who many are waiting on to sign a new deal for Mikel Arteta's first team - but he is a good addition to Steve Bould's U23 side as well as the U21 side which will play in the EFL Trophy.

The 19-year-old has hit the ground running and has already met up with his new team-mates and trained with the U23s and academy players ahead of the new campaign.

Prior to playing for the Terriers Tim was at Lincoln City, where he made his first team bow in the EFL Trophy for the Imps.

Tim also had a spell on loan with non-league side Lincoln United in January 2019.

Predominantly a central midfielder, Tim, who started his career at League Two side Mansfield Town. He can represent Nigeria and England at international level.

An Arsenal statment said: "We welcome Tim to Arsenal and look forward to supporting him with his continued development."
