Dani Ceballos has rejoined Arsenal for a second spell after he agreeed another season-long loan from Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old Spainsh international shone for the Gunners following restart.

The former Real Betis man looked impresseive in his early matches for the north Londoners this time last year, including a stunning home debut against Burnley at the Emirates.

The Utrera-born creative talent subsequently suffered a dip in form, which, allied with muscular injuries picked up during the autumn, curtailed his effectiveness.

He had appeared to slip further down the pecking order after Mikel Arteta first took over just before Christmas, but Ceballos showed his character to knuckle down to impress boss Arteta prior to lockdown. 

Ceballos continued to shine after restart, grabbing an important last-minute winner at Bramall Lane to help the Gunners beat Sheffield United 2-1 to hand his side a crucial FA Cup sixth round victory. 

Ceballos then starred in the impressive victories over Liverpool in the Premier League as well as the triumph over Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley prior to becoming a key component of Arsenal's 2-1 win over Chelsea to lift the FA Cup. 

“I’m very pleased to be back with Arsenal - I’m very happy to have come back to a club where I feel important,” Ceballos told Arsenal Digital.

“It’s true that I had other options, such as staying at Real Madrid and going back to the Spanish league, where there were teams interested in me. 

“I spoke to the coach last year, before the [Emirates FA Cup] final, and told him that I wanted to stay at Arsenal and win titles. I’d been really happy with what Mikel had built at the club since he came in. I had a great time at this club last season and there was never any doubt in my mind that I wanted to come back."

Dani will continue to wear the number 8 shirt in the forthcoming season after making 37 appearances and becoming an integral part of Arteta’s side last term.

Ceballos' boss, Arteta, added: “Dani was an integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form.

"I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player. We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”

    Can’t put my finger on it but not feeling the love for this ongoing saga of will he join us again , oh please don’t leave us . Think despite the lack of cash we can act a bit more confident now as we actually have a proper coach who is teaching them to break the number one rule of never , never pass across your area! I can feel the wrath of a number of old school over that but if it beats the Gegen Press why not. Dani certainly went a bit Franco Falangist didn’t he ! Let’s hope he does his talking on the pitch. Personally I’d still like a big lump like Partey in midfield. I note the average height is increasing in the squad which I feel is a good thing

    Fair point Ron, but I don't think both deep lying central midfielders need to be physically big hard men. We were spoilt with Manu and PV4 because they had the full range of skills as well as both being hard as nails. But Paul Davis flourished alongside Steve Williams and Michael Thomas. Putting his awful "isms" to one side, Ceballos creates time for himself in packed midfields, puts in the running and has good passing range. He and Xhaka aren't right at the top of the tree, but they seem increasingly able to get control and screen the defence which is much more solid than it was under Emery. From what I've seen of Partey, he'd evidently be a positive addition if it happens. The joys of supporting a team that looks like its being coached again eh Ron?

    Decent player, though all of the joy and hype about him is over the top in my view. AFC Need far netter than him in the middle of the field if they're truly to challenge. The midfield has lacked a muscular presence now for 15 years. Ceballos doesnt offer it and neither do any of the others.

    This character holds some nasty right wing views that belong to the depressing days of 1930s Spain. He's a top player, well suited to the team's style of playing but it would do no harm if he apologised for what he said about Basques and Catalans. Oh and the barnet - did anyone else find it amusing during one of the post covid games when the commentator said Ceballos was a qualified barber while showing him sporting a truly terrible haircut?
