Meanwhile, reports in Spain say Diego Simeone has been left furious by Partey's departure. Simeone told Lucas Torreira he wanted to pair the two together at the Wanda Metropolitano during negotiations. Imagine if Arsenal were to pull the plug on the Torreira deal now...

An update on Thomas Partey. The £45 million release clause has been deposited to Atletico Madrid, who are reportedly deeply unhappy after not being informed by either Arsenal or Partey about his departure. They should have just checked Twitter.

The Gunners triggered his release clause earlier today and a medical was taking place this afternoon. As for outgoings, Matteo Guendouzi has joined Hertha Berlin on loan and Lucas Torreira is set for a loan move to Atletico Madrid. But, Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis are both set to stay at the Emirates.

Arsenal have just seen another reported target slip through the net. Porto's Danilo Pereira, who was seen as an alternative to Thomas Partey earlier in the window, has joined PSG on loan until the end of the season.

On Matteo Guendouzi, his loan move to Hertha Berlin is expected to be completed before the deadline. Arsenal will not receive a loan fee for the Frenchman and the deal does NOT include an option to buy next summer. The Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal have registered an interest in taking Thomas Lemar on loan from Atletico Madrid. The Frenchman nearly joined the Gunners in a £92 million move three years ago, also on deadline day, but that fell through. He looked set to join RB Leipzig last week, but his wage demands saw that move called off. We will bring you more as we get it.
