Full-time. Arsenal 0-3 Aston Villa. Absolutely shambolic display. We'll have plenty of reaction on the website over the coming days. Now, off to scream into a pillow. See you all soon.

  2. Dan Mountney: 20:52 #581

75'- GOAL VILLA! Shambolic and the away side get another. Grealish charges forward, slips through Watkins and the forward slots past Leno. Arsenal have been taken apart here. 0-3

  3. Dan Mountney: 20:49 #580

73'- OFF THE LINE! Nearly 3-0 as Ceballos clears a shot off the line. Arsenal all over the place here. 0-2

  4. Dan Mountney: 20:48 #579

72'- GOAL VILLA! It's far too simple for the away side and it's 2-0. Luiz clips a long ball over for Barkley who volleys in a superb cross for Watkins to head home. Very long way back for Arsenal now. 0-2

  5. Dan Mountney: 20:42 #578

65'- Double change for Arsenal. Willian and Lacazette - who have both been hopeless - are replaced by Pepe and Nketiah. 0-1

  6. Dan Mountney: 20:38 #577

61'- CHANCE! Arsenal nearly level. A corner is recycled and Gabriel crosses low. He finds his defensive partner Holding, but he sweeps just wide of the post. 0-1

  7. Dan Mountney: 20:33 #576

56'- CHANCE! Villa nearly make it 2-0! Fine build-up ends with Grealish sitting Holding down and shooting from a tight angle, but Leno gets enough on the ball to turn the shot behind. 0-1

  8. Dan Mountney: 20:32 #575

55'- CHANCE! Arsenal play a free-kick short and it falls for Ceballos on the edge, but his curling effort is just wide. 0-1

  9. Dan Mountney: 20:26 #574

49'- CHANCE! Down the other end, a cross falls for Willian in the box and he scuffs his effort so far wide it nearly hits the corner flag. 0-1

  10. Dan Mountney: 20:25 #573

48'- CHANCE! Trezeguet tests Leno at his near post after a clever pass from Barkley. 0-1

  11. Dan Mountney: 20:22 #572

46'- Back underway. Arsenal make a change at half-time, with Ceballos replacing Partey. The Ghanian was holding his thigh at times in the first half. 0-1

  12. Dan Mountney: 20:06 #571

Half-time. Arsenal 0-1 Aston Villa. Shocking from Arsenal so far. The Gunners have lacked creativity and Villa have looked a threat throughout, deservedly leading after Saka's own goal. Arteta will certainly be getting into his side at the break and if they don't improve they are in serious trouble. Big 45 minutes ahead.

  13. Dan Mountney: 19:59 #570

41'- CHANCE! Lacazette should have Arsenal level. Tierney plays in a superb cross from the left and the Frenchman has time to guide his header on target, but he puts it over. Golden opportunity. 0-1

  14. Dan Mountney: 19:46 #569

25'- Villa's goal has gone down as a Saka own goal. 0-1

  15. Dan Mountney: 19:44 #568

24'- GOAL VILLA! The away side are ahead and it's shocking defending from Arsenal. Holding presses three different players while Willian and others on the right just stand and watch. Tarrgett is played through and he squares for an easy Trezeguet tap in. Arteta will be fuming. 0-1

  16. Dan Mountney: 19:37 #567

20'- Villa pressing Arsenal well, who are struggling to play out from the back. Arteta has been shouting at his defenders as he tries to get them to move the ball quicker and beat the press. 0-0

  17. Dan Mountney: 19:31 #566

13'- CHANCE! Partey wins the ball in midfield and sweeps a ball out to Aubameyang. The Arsenal skipper works space on his left and crosses for Willian, but his half volley ends up in the stands. 0-0

  18. Dan Mountney: 19:28 #565

10'- Nervy moment for Villa as McGinn's pass back to Martinez is short and Partey chases it down, but the ex-Arsenal goalkeeper just gets there in time to clear. 0-0

  19. Dan Mountney: 19:22 #564

4'- GOAL DISALLOWED! Arsenal get off the hook very early on. With just 46 seconds on the clock, Grealish crosses for McGinn who smashes the ball past Leno. But, Barkley is blocking the goalkeeper's view in an offside position and VAR rules the goal out. Rightly so, especially after what happened to the Gunners against Leicester.

  20. Dan Mountney: 19:16 #563

1'- We are underway in north London. 0-0

  21. Dan Mountney: 19:15 #562

Teams are out at the Emirates. Arsenal vs Aston Villa is moments away.

  22. Dan Mountney: 19:00 #561

Mohamed Elneny makes his 100th Arsenal appearance tonight, partnering Thomas Partey in midfield.

  23. Dan Mountney: 18:47 #560

Aston Villa Emi Martinez returns to Arsenal for the first time tonight. On his summer exit, Mikel Arteta said: "He had a career of 10 years here. It wasn't just the last six or eight months. You have to look at everything he did through his time at the club. Obviously, it wasn't in my plans to sell him, but we gave him the chance because he deserved it. He performed really really well but we have to balance the books. We have to make the right choices in the market and obviously, I couldn't guarantee him to be the number one. He's a very ambitious person, he has been working really hard and he can see now that the opportunity is there. He's got the opportunity to play with Argentina and when a player asks you to do that I think you have to be open enough and tell him what you think about him. If he makes the decision to leave, you should try to support him because he deserves it for the way he has served the club over the years."

  24. Dan Mountney: 18:40 #559

As expected, Jack Grealish starts for Aston Villa. Mikel Arteta is fully aware of the danger he poses, saying earlier this week: "He is a top player, great talent, he is player who can make a difference at any moment in the game. He has this personality against any opponent, at any ground, to take the ball in any area of the pitch and he can make the difference, so we have to look after him."

  25. Dan Mountney: 18:35 #558

According to Arsenal stat guru Orbinho, the Gunners have averaged four goals a game in their last three home games against Aston Villa. Having netted just nine in seven Premier League games this season, they could do with that many today. Fail to score, and it will be the first time since February 2016 that they have not netted in consecutive home games.

  26. Dan Mountney: 18:30 #557

So, what do you make of the team Mikel Arteta has gone for?

  27. Dan Mountney: 18:21 #556

Mikel Arteta names an unchanged team from the win against Manchester United last weekend. Elneny keeps his place alongside Partey after the pair impressed at Old Trafford, while Willian is preferred to Pepe on the right of the attack. Willock misses out on the squad despite impressing against Molde.

  28. Dan Mountney: 18:20 #555

Aston Villa subs: Steer, El Mohamady, Taylor, Nakamba, Hourihane, El Ghazi, Davis.

  29. Dan Mountney: 18:19 #554

Arsenal subs: Runarsson, Ceballos, Maitland-Niles, Pepe, Luiz, Nketiah, Xhaka.

  30. Dan Mountney: 18:18 #553

Aston Villa team to face Arsenal: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, Douglas Luiz, McGinn, Trezeguet, Barkley, Grealish, Watkins.

  31. Dan Mountney: 18:17 #552

Arsenal team to face Aston Villa: Leno, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Bellerín, Partey, Elneny, Saka, Willian, Lacazette, Aubameyang.

  33. Dan Mountney: 18:08 #550

With Manchester City currently drawing 1-1 with Liverpool, a win for Arsenal today would see them climb to sixth in the Premier League table - level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea.

  34. Dan Mountney: 18:05 #549

We should have team news in the next 10 minutes, but who would you like to see start for Arsenal?

  35. Dan Mountney: 18:04 #548

Arsenal will be without Reiss Nelson today, with the youngster missing through a knee injury. Long-term absentees Pablo Mari, Gabriel Martinelli and Calum Chambers are also still out. Joe Willock looks to be in the squad following his impressive display in the Europa League win over Molde on Thursday.

  36. Dan Mountney: 18:01 #547

All the talk before today's game has been about FA Cup hero Emi Martinez. The Aston Villa goalkeeper returns to the Emirates for the first time since his summer exit. Gunners skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang revealed a messaged he received from the Argentine earlier in the week, saying: "Emi is a great keeper and a great guy as well. It's going to be funny to play against him. He sent me a message and said, 'Hopefully you're going to get a penalty and I'm going to save it.' I said, 'OK, be ready for the chip then!'"
