The Mesut Ozil saga looks set to finally come to an end, with Arsenal's top earner in talks with MLS side DC United according to Football.London's Chris Wheatley.

The German was frozen out by boss Mikel Arteta at the beginning of 'Project Restart' and was then left out of both Premier League or Europa League squads for this season.

Ozil now looks close to a move stateside, but it is likely to take place in the summer when his £350,000-per-week contract at the Emirates expires.

DC United's offer includes the expansion of his 39 Steps Coffee brand, his own merchandise line and becoming the face of Washington-based side.

Fenerbache are also believed to be interested in signing the 32-year-old, but it looks as if the MLS side have stolen a march on the Turkish club.

Sokratis close to Serie A return

Arsenal outcast Sokratis looks set to return to former club Genoa, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Greek defender has not played for the Gunners this season after Arteta decided not to register him in the squad, and now his Emirates nightmare looks set to come to an end.

The report claims that the 32-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Serie A side, with negotiations now taking place between the two clubs.

Genoa are also believed to be one of a number of teams eyeing a move for Shkodran Mustafi, but any move is yet to reach an advanced stage.

Buendia opens up on Arsenal links

Norwich City's Emi Buendia has opened up on rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal this month.

The Gunners are keen on bringing the 24-year-old to north London, but the Canaries look set to demand a high fee to part with their star man.

Buendia addressed the rumours on Argentina's Radio Residencias, saying: "Yes, I want to return to the Premier League, I always say it.

"It is the best league in the world, it is the one that makes the difference at all levels. Any team makes life difficult for anyone, it is very complicated.

"Their organisational level is perfect, the stadiums have a lot of history, the conditions for playing football are ideal.

"There are no excuses. And the players and the teams are the best.

"I aspire to the best and work every day to get back to it, either in my team or through a transfer. Returning to the Premier in the short term is a dream.

"It is true that there was a lot of talk in the summer, after relegation, about the possibility that both I and other teammates could leave the team to continue in the Premier League."

Buendia added: "However, I always had my head with the club. I belong to Norwich, I have to do things well for my team. Tomorrow we will see, but I never had my head outside the objectives, to work so that my club does well.

"As this season unfolds, we are doing well and I am very happy to be here. We are in a good position, I am feeling important, I am scoring goals and making assists for my teammates."

Bissouma a Gunners target

Arsenal are considering a January move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, if the Mail Online are to be believed.

The Mali international has earned rave reviews for his performances this season, drawing admiring glances from Arteta.

The Gunners are monitoring his situation this month, and it is believed Bissouma would be open to a move having supported Arsenal as a child.

Macey set for Hibs loan

Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey is set to join Scottish side Hibernian on loan for the rest of the season, according to Football Insider.

The 26-year-old will undergo a medical in Edinburgh today after the Gunners informed him he wasn't in their plans for the rest of the campaign.

Macey's long-term future remains uncertain with his contract expiring this summer.
