Three players that could boost Mikel Arteta's Arsenal

Arsenal have not made any signings in this winter window but Mikel Arteta has admitted he is now looking to recruit after trimming his squad following the departures of Sokratis and Sead Kolasinac (loan) along with the expected exit of Mesut Ozil on Friday.

Jake Leach takes a look at three players that could boost Arteta's Gunners

Martin Odegaard

Once upon a time, the Norwegian was set to be the next big thing in football after a move to Real Madrid from Strømsgodset in 2015.

Still just 22-years old, the playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal to solve the current creativity issues in attack.

The playmaker has saw his best moments away from Madrid after several loan moves in a bid to enhance his experience and maturity on the field.

His best return was in 2018/19 in Holland when Odegaard was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem, scoring 11 times with 12 assists in 39 games.

He returned to Spain the next season before Real sent him on loan at Real Sociedad. He concluded the 2019/20 campaign where he notched seven goals with nine assists in 36 games.

Moving to the Emirates would certainly boost Arsenal, who have only scored 23 Premier League goals this season -  meaning many fans would not turn down the chance of signing a highly rated attacking midfielder from the Bernabeu.

Emi Buendia

It was a surprise to many when the Norwich winger remained at Carrow Road for the 2020/21 season following the Canaries relegation last term.

Yet, the 24-year-old Argentine attacking midfielder has had a stellar season that has now seem him linked with a move to north London,.

Despite relegation Norwich City showed glimpses of quality last season through their attractive style of football under Daniel Farke.

The Canaries currently sit top of the Championship which may tempt Buendia to remain in East Anglia with his destined for a return to the Premier League.

The South American forward scored once and assisted eight times last season but his numbers this campaign are far greater with 14 goals and assists in 22 games this season.

His influence in attack would improve Arsenal going forward while giving Arteta another option - which would result in healthy competition for places, which can only be a good thing.

Odsonne Eduoard

The Celtic striker is reportedly available for around £17.7million to £21million this summer.

The Arsenal board could be interested in this transfer due to Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expiring at the end of next season.

Arteta could favour a move for the 23-year-old to help his long-term revamp of the squad.

The French striker joined the Scottish giants in 2017 and he has not disappointed, scoring 72 goals, with 35 assists in 151 games.

Playing in the Premier League is a harder than playing in Scotland for Celtic, but his quality is exciting.

His former teammate, now a Gooner, Kieran Tierney, has hugely impressed since moving from Scotland to become one of the best full backs in the Premier League.
