Bernd Leno - 6 - Made some important saves, but he will be fuming with Holding and Bellerin for not picking up Sterling for City's goal.

Hector Bellerin - 3 - Struggled to make an impact going forward and failed to nullify the threat posed by the dangerous Raheem Sterling.

Rob Holding - 6.5 - Was at fault for City's goal but was flawless apart from that, marshalling the defence well and playing out from the back with confidence.

Pablo Mari - 6 - Returned from injury and looked solid and assured at the back.

Kieran Tierney - 6.5 - Finally back from injury and looked like Arsenal's most dangerous player, bombing down the left and looking to pick out his team-mates in the final third. The Scot understandably tired as the game went on though.

Mohamed Elneny - 3 - I'm all for players working hard, but Elneny's headless chicken-style pressing was pointless, often leaving him out of position and giving City a numerical advantage in midfield. He may have completed most of his passes, but they are no use if they are going backward and sideways. He simply isn't good enough and the sooner Arteta sees that the better.

Granit Xhaka - 5 - Battled hard in midfield and used the ball well, but he desperately needs Thomas Partey back alongside him.

Nicolas Pepe - 4 - Worked hard for the team and made some good runs, but his team-mates often failed to pick him out. When they did, Pepe produced very little.

Martin Odegaard - 4 - Shone in Rome during the week but struggled against City as he failed to find the time and space to create any clear cut openings for the Gunners.

Bukayo Saka - 5.5 - Linked well with Tierney down the left and looked to cause problems, but he failed to create the openings Arsenal needed against a dominant City side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 3 - Didn't get the service he needed, but also failed to create anything too in a poor performance from the skipper.
