Read Dan  Mountney's PLAYER RATINGS on a dramatic evening for The Arsenal.

Bernd Leno - 5 - Could do little about the Goncalves' stunning free-kick, but could have done better for Benfica's second.

Hector Bellerin - 5 - Could have offered more going forward in support of Saka.

David Luiz - 6 - A quiet night for the Brazilian who played out well.

Gabriel - 6 - A decent performance at the back.

Kieran Tierney - 7.5 - Once again showed why Arsenal fans love him so much, stepping up to smash home the vital leveller when Arsenal looked dead and buried.

Dani Ceballos - 1 - The most relieved man in the whole of Greece. Gave away a silly free-kick for Benfica's first and then made a horrendous error for the all-important second, it simply wasn't good enough from the Spaniard who nearly dumped Arsenal out.

Granit Xhaka - 5 - Kept Arsenal ticking over but failed to find a way to unlock the Benfica door from his deep position.

Emile Smith Rowe - 5 - Buzzed around looking to cause problems, but failed to create anything of note before being replaced.

Martin Odegaard - 6 - Neat and tidy in possession. The Norwegian looked a danger on the night, but nobody in red and white could capitalise on his passes beyond the Benfica backline.

Bukayo Saka - 8 - As they have time and time again this season, Arsenal have this very talented young man to thank getting them out of hole with two sublime pieces of play.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 8.5 - He's had his critics this season, but the skipper stepped up when his side needed him most, scoring two vital goals to see them through.

Substitutes

Willian - 6.5 - A much better performance from the Brazilian, looking lively and setting up Tierney's goal.

Thomas Partey - 6.5 - Added much-needed energy, drive and quality at a crucial time in the game.

Alexandre Lacazette - 5 - Did little off the bench.

Mohamed Elneny - N/A

Calum Chambers - N/A
