Arsenal U23s 3-0 Brighton U23s: Player Ratings as Fol Balogun grabs a brace and Charlie Patino shines again


Arsenal U23s beat Brighton U23s 3-0 at the Emirates on Friday evening.

Two goals from Fol Balogun, including a second half penalty, sandwiched between Salah Oulad M’hand notching sealed a comfortable victory for the young guns.

Talented first team prospect Charlie Patino once again starred in midfield, with the exciting Omari Hutchinson also making an appearance as the home side proved too strong for the visitors.

Karl Hein: 7/10 - A solid display from the young keeper who recently put pen to paper on a new long-term deal. Needs to work on his handling.

Zane Monlouis: 7/10 - Never lets anyone down. Grew into the game after a slow start 

Joel Lopez: 7/10 - A physical presence in the backline supplemented by an excellent assist for Salah's goal 

Omar Rekik: 7.5/10 – A solid showing at the heart of defence kept out the visitors

Mazeed Ogungbo: 7.5/10 – Intelligent with a growing physicality. Another assured performance to help his side keep a clean sheet

Tim Akinola: 7/10 – Worked hard as ever while improving with every game

Ryan Alebiosu: 7/10 – Deserved his round of applause after being replaced late on from the smattering of loyal Gooners in the ground

Salah Oulad M’Hand: 7.5/10 – When this lad explodes it will be fun to watch – so long as you’re not an opposition defender. Cool finish for his well-deserved goal. Showed excellent movement on and off the ball throughout

Mika Biereth: 7/10 – Not as influential as he would have liked but is vitally important to his teammates for his bustling performance when playing with his back to goal and shielding the ball effectively

Charlie Patino: 8.5/10 – A wand of a left foot allied with creativity and vision. Always seems to make the right decision when in possession. Ready to make his debut for the first team in the League Cup clash against Leeds later this month. A good day all round for the youngster after being named in the England U19 squad

Fol Balogun: 8/10 – Two goals including a penalty from the forward many judge as worthy of being around the first team

Substitutes: 

Omari Hutchinson: 7.5/10 – Another exciting prospect and one to watch. Lively after replacing Akinola in the second half 

Reuell Walters: 7/10 – Interesting to chart the progress the youngster has made, even in the space of the first two months of this season
