Arsenal's interest is mounting Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio. 

As the January transfer window looms, the Gunners are weighing up their options - with former target Asensio high on the list. 

It is understood that the La Liga giants are considering offloading the Spaniard in January, with Mikel Arteta considering taking the 25-year-old to North London.

With former Bernabeu midfielder Martin Odegaard successfully signed from the Spanish giants over the summer, relations are good between the sides. 

Various outlets in Spain have indicated the double Champions League and La Liga winner would be available at a price of around £34m. 

However, there are doubts about whether the Gunners require Asensio's services, given that the creative midfielder would be vying with Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe for a place with the resurgent Emirates outfit.
