UEFA Women’s Champions League

Steph Catley grabbed an excellent first goal for Arsenal to help them outclass a stubborn Koge side in the Women's Champions League.

Catley found the top corner with a free-kick to put Jonas Edivall's side ahead against the Danish champions before half-time.

Nikita Parris, who missed a first-half penalty, made it 2-0 with Caitlin Foord adding a third.

Anna Patten and Jordan Nobbs also added late strikes to compete the win after Maddie Pokorny grabbed a consolation.

Lydia Williams 6.5/10

Arsenal’s second-choice goalie was completely untested in the first half and couldn’t do much to prevent Koge’s first ever Champions League goal.

Noelle Maritz 7.5/10

At times this was one of her more challenging games this season after practically being given the day off vs West Ham but was excellent in both attack and defence, playing a crucial role.

Leah Williamson 7.5/10

Picked out some beautifully weighted direct passes and came close to scoring on more than one occasion. Very easy to see why she plays in midfield for the Lionesses, but was crucial in her usual central defensive position tonight.

Simone Boye Sorensen 5.5/10

Back on native soil, making a rare appearance for the Gunners after being signed from Bayern in the summer. Part of an uncharacteristically poor Arsenal backline (with problems in midfield too) and lost her composure at times.

Steph Catley 7.5/10

Another player trying to take every chance given to her by Jonas Eidevall, and she did just that with an unbelievable, inch-perfect free kick to open the scoring.

Lia Walti 6/10

Anchored the Arsenal midfield well but didn’t always get her passing right.

Frida Maanum 7/10

Sky Sports commentator Jaqui Oatley was full of praise for the 22 year-old when I spoke to her on Sunday, and she came close with a delicate left-footed shot at the end of the first half but was subbed off eventually for some much needed rest.

Jordan Nobbs (C) 6.5/10

One of her more quiet nights in an Arsenal shirt, but Koge couldn’t keep her out of the game and it was her shot that hit the bar that led to Arsenal’s third before adding the cherry on top of the cake by making it 5-1 late on.

Nikita Parris 8/10

Once again proved her flexibility in the front three, playing on either flank or in the middle. Won a penalty with tricky footwork but her spot-kick was saved brilliantly by Marckese, but claimed her revenge with a calm finish just after the hour mark. A shining light with pace and skill.

Vivianne Miedema 6/10

A first start since the international break for the rested striker, who had some good chances against a defensive Koge unit.

Caitlin Foord 7/10

Replaced Beth Mead in the side and had a fantastic second 45 half, scoring Arsenal’s third with a simple header, and then doing all the hard work to assist Anna Patten’s left-footed finish.

Beth Mead (Sub, 62’) 7/10

Came on for Nikita Parris just after her second goal and helped the defence out at times when Koge were mounting attacks, also assisting Jordan Nobbs.

Kim Little (Sub, 62’) 6.5/10

The WSL’s top scorer had a role in Arsenal’s third but was unable to calm down her side in terms of the captaincy side of things.

Anna Patten (Sub, 71’) 7.5/10

“She’s one of our own” rang out from the away end as Patten’s left foot delivered Arsenal’s fourth goal from the bench.

Katie McCabe (Sub, 72’) 6.5/10

An excellent player for Eidevall to be able to call upon, one again impressing and helping Arsenal to finish strongly.

Subs not used: Zinsberger (GK), Cull, Goldie, Wubben-Moy, Iwabuchi.
