Women’s Super League: Arsenal Women 2-1 Brighton & Hove Albion Women, Meadow Park
2-1 (Koivisto 15’, MIEDEMA 55’, MEAD 60’)
January 27, 2022, Kick-Off 730pm
Manu Zinsberger 6/10
Got her feet and hands in a muddle for Brighton’s opening goal and did not look confident, untested in the second half.
Noelle Maritz 7/10
Filled in for the suspended Katie McCabe at left-back and looked comfortable doing so.
Leah Williamson 7.5/10
Sent Brighton’s Megan Connolly into the advertising boards early on and helped to assure Arsenal’s defence. More minutes under her belt.
Rafaelle Souza 6.5/10
Was superb in the 45 minutes she played against Manchester City and rewarded with her first start for the Gunners. Played her part in keeping former Arsenal striker Danielle Carter quiet.
Laura Weinroither 6.5/10
Made her full debut after arriving from Hoffenheim earlier this month, Brighton looked to double up on her on their left hand side but she provided a forward threat too. Could she have marked Koivisto better for Brighton’s opening goal?
Lia Walti 6/10
Allowed those in front of her to flourish by anchoring the defensive midfield role.
Jordan Nobbs 7/10
An improved display from the Arsenal stalwart who had a free kick and a long-range strike saved by Megan Walsh. Kept the midfield ticking over and should have scored.
Kim Little (C) 6.5/10
Hasn’t added to her six WSL goals after a blistering start to the season but continues to show why she has played over 250 times for the Gunners, played well once again but needs some support going forward from midfield.
Beth Mead 9/10
Was Arsenal’s most dangerous player, always trying to link up with Viv Miedema- won and delivered the free-kick for Miedema’s equaliser. Then scored a brilliant three kick five minutes later to cap off an outstanding performance.
Vivianne Miedema 8/10
Had a header cleared off the line inside five minutes. Amidst plenty of transfer speculation she deservedly scored Arsenal’s equaliser, an easy goal for her standards. Worked tirelessly tonight.
Tobin Heath 7.5/10
Scored the crucial injury time equaliser on Sunday and Arsenal are all the better for having her back from injury. Great movement to create chances, especially in the second 45. Replaced by Nikita Parris with thirteen minutes to go.
Lotte Wubben-Moy (Sub, 64’) 7/10
Looked to switch the play out from the back and defended well. Will be competing with Souza to play alongside Williamson.
Nikita Parris (Sub, 77’) 6/10
Has struggled for game time this season and could play more of a part against London City in the FA Cup on Sunday. Attempted a long range wondergoal which didn’t go to plan.
Frida Maanum (Sub, 81’) -
Subs not used: Hermione Cull, Simone Boye Sorensen, Ellie Head
