The backlash against the moaners continues. Is this the beginning of a campaign!

Cesc: From w*nker to hero in the space of minutes

Please carry on with your informed articles that may occasionally focus upon aspects of our poor play that result in dropping precious points (and therefore provide an advantage to our title-chasing opponents). Of course it doesn't condemn you to being a 'doom and gloom merchant'. It's merely a valid point of view.

As for the assorted idiots that visit Ashburton and previously at Highbury in the guise of being Arsenal fans and others that call themselves Gooners, I wonder if I can take some of your time and provide a couple of recent relevant examples.

Last season throughout our home match against Man City, a bloke in his mid twenties a couple of rows in front of me did nothing but moan and complain. This included giving an elaborate w*nker gesture towards Fabregas after an effort of his went wide. Shortly afterwards when Fabregas scored, no one was jumping higher or singing the praises of Cesc louder than him. Now this imbecile is, of course, only at Arsenal because we are successful. If our neighbours at S*ite Hart Lane had achieved what we have in recent years, he would without doubt now be wearing a lily white shirt and singing Chas 'n Dave on karaoke. These people are emotional parasites seeking highs who attach themselves to anything handy which can provide them with some reflected glory . They feed wholly at our expense and provide nothing in return. As such, they are not only worthless, but are to be despised. This phenomenon is not confined to the Arsenal of course - just look at the thousands who travel many, many miles north to Old Trafford and the sudden emergence of thousands of life-long Chelsea fans.

Secondly, a few months ago I was in Soccer Scene at Carnaby Street and a couple of tourists (who I think were Japanese) asked for a young child's Arsenal home kit for their son who was with them. When told they were out of stock, they immediately asked instead for the Chelsea home kit. This is the reality of the much vaunted 'fan base'. To these people - who the club may alarmingly rely on a great deal - footballing merchandise is an interchangeable fashion. And you are only fashionable if you lift silverware.

I wonder how many true fans Arsenal have? 30,000? 20,000?

Am going to retire now in the Slough of Despond (near Human Resources).
