Well, where do we start? Arsene Wenger has brought more to Highbury than anyone else before him. Trophies, pride, football that flows like silk, but never before has he brought humiliation.
It was obvious that a side full of reserves would struggle against a Spuds team in the middle of a mini-revival, but just how many entries to ‘Load of Ballacks’ can you take?
Firstly to the players for putting on the most embarrassing, shameful display of football we've seen in many, many years. When we were beaten 6-1 by ManUre a few years back at least we had the (scant) consolation that they were a class side. The side that just dominated us, cowed us, outplayed and outfought us were battling against relegation with the same players two months ago. Our kids might be able to waltz past Blackburn and Newcastle, but at the first sign of being harried or hassled they retreat inside their shells. The only exceptions could be Adebayor and Eduardo, who seemed to at least be playing for pride.
To Justin Hoyte, the cause of at least three goals, who played the offside rule as though he was translating it from ancient Sanskrit.
To Nicklas Bendtner. Not for the own goal which could happen to anyone, but for petulantly arguing with his captain whilst we strove to recover some dignity from a late corner.
To Arsene Wenger whose bull headed refusal to acquire cover for our main central defensive pairing has been completely exposed by a bunch of mid-table chancers.
To Arsenal football club for not having a route so that fans such as us can complain directly through the website.
To Arsene Wenger (again) for not spotting what the rest of the viewing football fraternity could see in that Hoyte was horribly out of his depth at centre half - after the first goal.
To Gilberto Silva who couldn’t pass a glass of port let alone a football
To Abou Diaby whose first touch makes Julio Baptista look like Denis Bergkamp
To Theo Walcott who should spend less time writing for the club magazine and more time on the training pitch. Maybe we can lure ex-players to teach him what it means to be a professional footballer. He has achieved nothing yet. At times it was easy to forget he was even on the pitch.
I sincerely hope that the players on display last night have the basic decency to surrender their appearance money to whatever charity(s) the club is supporting this year. They did not deserve or earn them tonight. Running about and getting tired is not the same as working towards a result.
I don’t doubt that this email will arrive along with many others of a similar vein. I can only hope that these thoughts and those of fellow Gooners make their way to the board, coaching, management staff and players. This performance was abject.
