Defending a one goal lead in the second half at Anfield is the most stressful, anxiety inducing task I’ve ever endured – and I was just sat on my sofa.

It was a tale of two halves, one in which we had the look of potential champions, and the other where we looked like Arsenal away from home.

All-in-all, it was a fantastic performance, to get the two goals and to have control of the game the way we did showed why we are where we are, and to come away from Anfield feeling deflated with a point just emphasises our progression this season.

There were lots of talking points, but I’ve narrowed it down to three that told the story of the game from our perspective in my opinion.

Inviting pressure and the changes

The game broke down so quickly, it felt as though one minute we could’ve scored three or more in the first half, then the crowed gets involved and we crumbled slightly.

When Salah scored the equaliser, I thought deep down that we wouldn’t be getting three points. Which was contrasting to the first half hour where I was full of elation and felt like running down the street.

I’m not going to criticise Arteta’s game management because the man is a genius, but the subs were confusing. Kiwior has played limited football since arriving, so to throw him into central midfield at Anfield when we’re almost sitting back felt like a ticket for a late equaliser, and that’s just what happened.

We could’ve won it at the end with the break, but tired legs were definitive, and it wasn’t meant to be.

Ramsdale MOTM

When it really mattered and with every game being a season defining occasion, Ramsdale kept us in it.

The first half was so strong, but it fell apart very quickly, in the dying moments we were clinging on for a point, Ramsdale is the reason we came away with something.

The save for Konate’s effort, and Salah’s late deflected shot may just be one of the reasons we still have the upper hand in this title race.

He was influential in the first half too, gathered everything that came his way and kept Arsenal in the game on every occasion that he was called upon.

Jesus rising on Easter Sunday

Gabriel Jesus is back firing again, that’s one thing to mention and his goal was superb, but the threat that he brings to this side is unbelievable.

The little juggling sequence to release Martinelli in the second half was mesmerising and is something we missed during his injury spell.

He can play from midfield into attack and brings such an attacking aura to the front line that makes the transition from defence to offence so efficient. He’s so much more than a striker, and his performance showed that.

All in all, we have to draw a line under this result, it’s ultimately two points lost when you consider the nature that we went 2-0 up in. The second half was just a performance that looked from the 45th minute that a Liverpool goal was inevitable – so from that view, we did well to take a point back to north London.
