Arsenal forward Alessia Russo scored a brace as the Gunners beat Bristol City 5-0 in the Women’s Super League, on a night with plenty of highlights for Arsenal fans to enjoy.
As well as the braces from Russo and fellow England star Beth Mead, Laura Wienroither came off the bench for the first time after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in May 2023, and young defender Katie Reid was also introduced for her senior debut.
17 year-old Reid was recalled from a loan spell with Women’s Championship side Watford in February due to injuries in Arsenal’s defence.
Asked by the Gooner about Reid’s debut, a delighted Russo said: “She is one of the loveliest kids, she has been great since she has come in.
“She went on loan to Watford and now she is back with us full-time and ever since she has been back with us she has been getting better and better every week- I tell her that all the time.
“She is quite shy but she is slowly coming out of her shell and you could see that tonight, with her confidence on the ball. She has a bright future ahead of her.”
