Arsenal came from behind to beat Everton 2-1 on an emotion-laden afternoon at the Emirates, as Mikel Arteta's outstanding young side just fell short of glory.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City pipped the Gunners to the Premier League title after beating West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad, to win their fourth crown on the bounce.

Arteta's young braves did all they could to push billionaire moneybags City all the way, but lost out on hopes of their first title in 20 years, by a mere two points.

On a sunny afternoon in North London Idrissa Gueye put the Toffees 1-0 ahead five minutes before half time.

However, Arsenal were determined not to finish the season on a whimper and Takehiro Tomiyashu's equaliser three minutes later - prior to Kai Havertz' 89th minute winner were enough to seal all three points on an emotional day, capped by the reappearance of Jurrien Timber for the first time since last August.

As captain Martin Odegaard said to the Ashburton crowd during his end of season on pitch speech: "We will come back stronger."

City be warned. Especially when those 115 charges are eventually dealt with.
