Arsenal came from behind to beat Manchester United at the state of the art SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta's Gunners ramped up their pre-season form, building on their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth at LA Galaxy on Wednesday evening here in California.
In front of more than 62,000 fans at the futuristic stadium that will host the opening match of the 2026 World Cup, striker Rasmus Hojlund and £52m new signing Leny Yoro both suffered first-half injuries for United - as Erik Ten Hag's Red Devils lost their opening US tour game.
Hojlund had given his side a 10th-minute lead when he latched onto Marcus Rashford’s ball, powering past Arsenal academy defender Ayden Heaven prior to firing through the legs of Gunners keeper Karl Hein.
Five minutes later, the Dane turned a low Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross wide from close range before suffering what appeared to be a muscle injury.
Gabriel Jesus levelled with a close range finish after 25 minutes, before lively substitute Gabriel Martinelli cut inside 17-year-old rookie full-back James Scanlon to fire home the winner - much to the delight of the hordes of Arsenal fans who came from near and far to support their team in LA.
Speaking after the match, a delighted Arteta hailed Martinelli, saying: "One training session and he comes in and plays at that level.
"That's the mentality of the team and individuals.
"Gabriel looks really sharp. He has changed a lot of things over the summer. You can see. The way he looks, his rhythm, his sharpness.
"You can see it in his eyes. There's some spark there. Now he has a point to prove and that is good."
United did win the side's pre-arranged penalty shoot-out which followed the match, with Jadon Sancho scoring the decisive spot-kick to seal a 4-3 win.
