Premier League table-toppers Arsenal grabbed two late goals to fight back and draw a thriller at home to relegation-haunted Southampton.
The struggling Saints remain bottom of the table and three points from safety, with the Gunners last-gasp rally ensuring the south coast side have now failed to win in seven league games.
Ruben Selles side led after only 28 seconds, when Carlos Alcaraz pounced on Aaron Ramsdale’s error to put the visitors ahead.
The early goal meant the North Londoners have now conceded the two fastest strikes at home in the Premier League this term, the other being Philip Billing's strike after nine seconds for Bournemouth.
Former Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott doubled the Southampton lead, prior to Gabriel Martinelli pulling one back for the league leaders.
Duje Caleta-Car restored the Southampton two-goal advantage at 3-1, with Saints set to seal vital three points - only for Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka to score in the 88th and 90th minutes to salvage a draw.
The result meant a third draw in a row for Mikel Arteta’s side leaving Manchester City five points behind but with two games in hand – ahead of the season-defining clash with the Gunners at Etihad Stadium this Wednesday.
“The response of the players, I cannot love them more, honestly. It is a joy to coach them, and it is a joy to be a part of this club and to experience what I have experienced with this team,” said a bullish Arteta after the match.”
