It was another glorious result for Arsenal in the Premier League as the Gunners hit Everton for four at the Emirates.

It was a vital three points for the hosts who went five points clear of Manchester City in second with 13 games left to play this campaign.

The victory gave Arsenal nine points from nine in their previous three league fixtures, after a rare patch of poor form in February narrowed the gap at the top momentarily.

Goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli made the young duo the first Premier League pair from the same club to hit ten goals each this season.

It’s time however to focus on Arsenal’s other goal scorer, club captain Martin Ødegaard who unleashed a true captain's performance.

The Norwegian grabbed his goal and controlled the midfield expertly to take his team over the line and one step closer to Premier League glory in this special season so far.

What we get from Ødegaard is a relentless desire to achieve and put his stamp on a game.

Whether it be through the most conventional route by registering a goal contribution, or by simply allowing the magic to evolve in front of him in central midfield, orchestrating sublime attacking sequences for us all to relish.

What was special about Ødegaard’s performance last night was his ability to quite simply, always be there.

Wherever an Arsenal attack was forming, the Norwegian played some part.

He’s all over the place and immensely tidy in the process, leaving no crumbs wherever he covers in the midfield.

A statistic that was revealed after the game showed he covers more ground than any other Arsenal player this campaign which is clear to see if you intensely watch Arsenal like the majority of us.

As a traditional number ten, sitting pretty with the insurance of having two defensive masters like Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka behind you is a favoured scenario, however that’s not Ødegaard’s game.

In fact, the midfielder does the contrary, highlighted statistically with him topping the charts in the Premier League this season for winning the ball back in the attacking third.

We’ve got a magician on our hands, a true footballing timepiece at the mere age of 24-years-old.

To add to that, we’ve got a real leader, a faultless captain showing his worth both on and off the field.

He was the last player off the field last night, doing his usual lap of the Emirates pitch to show his gratitude to the Arsenal faithful.

A nod again to his sincere heartfelt gesture to give Oleksandr Zinchenko the armband at Leicester to show his solidarity with his homeland on the anniversary of conflict in the Ukraine.

So here’s to you Martin Ødegaard, for your passion, your talent, your charm and that stupendous bit of skill you unleashed whilst dispossessing Alex Iwobi before dancing around the midfield last night - we see you.

Arsenal’s magician, Arsenal’s captain.
