Arsenal’s trip to Anfield is fast approaching, and news regarding the fixture is becoming livelier.

It’s been heavily reported that centre-back William Saliba will indeed miss the clash against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Frenchman hasn’t featured since being withdrawn midway through the first half during Arsenal’s second-leg Europa League game against Sporting Lisbon.

Rob Holding has taken Saliba’s place since his injury, and that looks almost certain to continue for the trip to Anfield.

The Frenchman is yet to return to training, making fans more anxious as reality sets in that he won’t be in contention to start against Liverpool.

Since being introduced into the starting eleven following a number of loan spells in France, Saliba has been a formidable force in central defence, quickly becoming on the leagues best performing centre-backs.

It’s a huge miss for Arsenal, but not a task that is too big for Holding, who is too an experienced central defender with the qualities to maintain Liverpool’s front line.
