Arsenal are chasing a La Liga star who has enjoyed a stellar campaign this term. 

Mikel Arteta's side have been handed a green light to sign a red-hot striker in a bid to go one better next season and pip billionaire moneybags Manchester City to the Premier League title. 

Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams has enjoyed a stellar campaign, netting eight goals while providing 17 assists to help boost his side to the Copa del Rey trophy, while also ending the campaign in an impressive fifth place. 

Williams fits the bill with Arsenal looking to bolster their forward options this summer.

Williams signed a new contract with Athletic last December which runs until 2027 - and contains a £40 million release clause.

The Gunners are busy pursuing a number of options including Williams this summer and want to get any potential deal done before the club departs for their pre-season tour to the United States at the end of July.

However, the 21-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal facing interest from Liverpool as well as Aston Villa and Newcastle.
