Arsenal defender Amanda Ilestedt is expecting her first child.

A club statement from Arsenal said that "Amanda is doing well and we are supporting her closely throughout this new and exciting journey."

Ilestedt, signed from PSG last summer, will continue to undertake light training activities.

She will keep in close contact with Arsenal's medical team as her pregnancy progresses.

The Sweden international will not now be available for selection until after she has given birth.

Ilestedt revealed the news to her Arsenal teammates in a team meeting. Having missed recent games due to illness, she said: "I've been feeling sick for other reasons than normal... it's been hard to not tell the truth!"
