Arsenal face a three-way battle with Liverpool and Spurs over a coveted Mexican striker impressing for Dutch champions Feyendoord.

Santiago Giménez, 23, hit 23 goals in 30 Eredivisie games, to come third in the Dutch scoring charts, as Liverpool-bound Arnie Slot's side won the title.

Named as Player of the Year by Dutch soccer magazine Voetbal International for 2023, the prolific striker has seen his stock rise considerably as a raft of big clubs across Europe including the Premier League have shown interest in his talents.

With boss Slot now off to Anfield to replace the departing Jurgen Klopp, the impressive Giménez could be subject to a Kop bid, with the former Feyenoord boss looking to reshape the Merseysiders in his own image.

However, Giménez was spotted at the North London derby last month, as he watched Arsenal beat bitter rivals Spurs 3-2 at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite Spurs interest, Arsenal are ready to back boss Mikel Arteta in the transfer market this summer as they bid to go one step further and win the Premier League title next season, Giménez has emerged as a possible target.

With the prospect of Champions League football on offer, Arsenal are sure to trump any Tottenham bid - as the Gunners have been strongly linked with a centre forward to bolster their squad once more, as they bid to challenge Manchester City again next season.

The Premier League runners-up have been monitoring the market - with a move for a new centre forward mooted this summer - with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Ivan Toney of Brentford in the frame.

Yet, with Giménez priced at around £40m, the Mexican hitman is a cheaper option for the Gunners, concsious of FFP requirements.

In 2023, the Argentine-born Mexico international set a record for Eredivisie goals (31) in a calendar year, helped secure a league title in his first season with Feyenoord, and became the first Mexican to score twice on his UEFA Champions League debut, while netting a total of 47 goals in 85 appearances for the Dutch champions.
