As the World Cup moves towards the quarter-final stages, domestic regular fixtures loom closer. Therefore, many clubs have begun warm-weather training camps. Let’s take a look at our loanee’s weeks.

Monday:

Charlie Patino’s Blackpool drew Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup whilst Rotherham (Brooke Norton-Cuffy) drew Ipswich, who will likely be missing Tyreece John-Jules due to undergoing hamstring surgery.

Tuesday:

On Tuesday came good news from Scotland, Ayr United centre-back Alex Kirk will be back in action much sooner than expected, as his ankle was found not to be fractured. His initial return date was “two to three months”, but now, Ayr boss Lee Bullen told the Ayrshire Post “Hopefully after a few weeks of rest he can start training again and we´ll be able to get him back with us in January, which would be great news all round.”

Over in Europe, Charlie Patino gave his thoughts on Blackpool’s progress in Spain: “I’ve really enjoyed it, it’s been good to get away in a different environment. It’s been a good couple of days to get used to preparing for when we go back for the second half of the season," Patino said. “We’ve done a bit of tactical work, some set pieces so trying to improve at that for when we get back.

"Overall it’s been a really good camp and I think the boys have enjoyed it. We obviously had the game against Watford which was good and good to get the fitness in for when we get back.

"It was a difficult back end to the first half of the season but that’s football and we’ve just got to think about the positives going forward. It’s been a good break to get away, refresh our minds and think positively going into the second half of the season.

"We’re all looking forward to it, we want to get back playing and hopefully we’ll pick up some points along the way which is important. I’m really enjoying my time at Blackpool. Since coming back from my injury all I’ve wanted to do is just play and get the trust from the manager and I think that’s what I’ve done.

"Coming from Arsenal I had to earn credibility and get myself into the team and I think I’ve done that. I have to keep working and keep learning from a lot of the experienced players and I want to keep progressing forward.”

Thursday:

Nikolaj Möller was one of FC Den Bosch’s seven substitutes coming on at half time in their exhibition match against Jong FC Utrecht, in which they drew one-all as Folarin Balogun flew with the Reims squad to Algorfa, Costa Blanca for a week long training camp ahead of their return to Ligue 1.

Friday:

Crewe Alexandra were trying for three wins on the spin in League Two, as Arthur Okonkwo started in net. He faced five shots on target, conceding two and saving three. Crewe are now eight points outside the relegation zone in 15th. Harry Clarke was not involved in Stoke City’s 2-1 win over Forest in a friendly.

Saturday:

Ovie Ejeheri kept a clean sheet as Chelmsford beat Dartford 1-0, whilst Mazeed Ogungbo was benched in Crawley’s 2-1 win over Swindon after not being included in the squad for the last three games. Miguel Azeez played the first half in UD Ibiza’s 2-1 loss to Real Zaragoza. He was booked, made 12 passes (with seven accurate), and took no shots. Tim Akinola played 15 minutes in Chesterfield’s 1-0 loss to Halifax Town
