Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard helped Belgium to ignite their Euro 2024 challenge in Cologne on Saturday evening.

At a raucous Cologne Stadium, the Gunners forward came on in the 56th minute of Belgium’s 2-0 win over Romania at Euro 2024 to win his 36th cap.

Following on from Monday’s surprise 1-0 defeat to Slovakia, Belgium got off to the perfect start against Romania with

Former Arsenal target Youri Tielemans opening the scoring after only 73 seconds to make it 1-0 in a match that Domenico Tedesco's side dominated.

Following Trossard's second-half introduction, Belgium thought they’d gone 2-0 up when Kevin De Bruyne put Romelu Lukaku through on goal with a superb pass, before the former Chelsea striker slotted home.

However, VAR ruled Lukaku offside and the goal was disallowed - the third strike of his that has been ruled out this tournament so far.

The outstanding De Bruyne eventually made it 2-0 on 79 minutes to seal victory.

The result means there is all to play for in Group E going into the final group game, with all four teams level on three points.

Ukraine had beaten Slovakia 2-1 on Friday with the help of an Oleksandr Zinchenko assist.

Trossard and Zinchenko go head-to-head at 5pm BST on Wednesday, June 26 in a potentially decisive fixture ahead of the knockout stages.
