Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has had an illustrious start to his footballing career.

At just 21 years of age, the Englishman will be the name on the lips of hopeful young players for years to come as an inspirational figure to look up to.

The youngster recently shared an insight to his story as he penned an article at the England national team camp in Qatar, sharing details of his football upbringing.

The winger revealed the fundamentals of what he believes to have rocketed his football career from a dream to reality.

“I always loved football. I think because I had that love for the game, I was willing to do the serious things I needed to make it one day and achieve my dream.”

For a 21-year-old, Saka has shown not just his ability to the world, but his monumentally proud and mature mentality, especially overcoming the penalty miss at the Euros the way he did.

The Londoner turned a career low into becoming one of the first names on Arsenal’s team sheet every week and a stern fan favourite at both domestic and international level, it’s no surprise that the Englishman is an inspirational figure to many around the world.

The humble midfielder commented on his power to inspire youngsters: “It’s nice to think that kids are now looking up to me. I hope I can continue to inspire them, be a good role model for them and make them proud and happy.”

Every child has a figure in which they look up to, and Saka was no different, admitting that his role model of the game was Cristiano Ronaldo.

He added his favourite Arsenal players also, having been at the academy since the age of seven the star spoke on Gunners stars past and present that have impacted his game.

“I used to love the older generation of players like Thierry Henry. I loved Thierry. And because I was at Arsenal, I used to be able to go to games and at that time I loved Alexis Sanchez. He was one of my favourite players.”

With two goals already in England’s opener at the World Cup, the Arsenal man has turned heads as expected so early in the prestigious tournament.

The fan favourite ended his interview with the national team with a short but influential note for the aspiring footballers of the future.

“To any kids looking to become a footballer, you have to love football, you have to enjoy it and always play with a smile on your face, and just give everything you can to make the most of your potential.”
