Mikel Arteta has been able to name William Saliba in his starting XI for tonight’s game against FC Nurnberg, with summer signing Kai Havertz included on the bench.
Our French defender, who recently signed a new contract with the club, missed the final 11 matches of the campaign after suffering a back injury in March, but is now available for selection again.
William has been named in a strong squad containing a host of international players looking for their first minutes of pre-season, including captain Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale.
However, Odegaard picked up a knock in the pre-match warm-up and was replaced by Fabio Vieira before kick-off
Meanwhile, Havertz could make his first bow in our colours following his arrival from Chelsea from the bench, which also includes Folarin Balogun following his exploits on loan at Reims last season, as well as Auston Trusty who could also make a first appearance for the club.
Academy prospects Reuell Walters, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are also among the replacements available to Arteta.
Arsenal: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior, Partey, Odegaard, Saka, Nelson, Trossard, Nketiah.
Subs: Hein, Tierney, Cedric, Walters, Trusty, Jorginho, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri, Vieira, Balogun, Havertz, Jesus.
