A highly-rated Arsenal striker has confirmed he will be leaving the club.

Chido Obi-Martin has confirmed his departure from Arsenal with a short message.

The 16-year-old signed off on his official Instagram account: “Thank you Arsenal”, before wishing coaches, staff and teammates ‘continued success’.

Suitors Manchester United are hovering, ready to sign Obi-Martin after the expiry of his schoolboy terms at Hale End.

scored at a prolific rate for Arsenal’s under-18s side last season, netting 32 goals in 19 games.

He even scored 10 goals in one match for Arsenal’s under-16s side, and now he could join the best under-18s team in the country, Manchester United.

Obi-Martin joined Arsenal from Danish side KB in 2022 and has been a prolific scorer during his time at the academy. 

Prior to his academy contract coming to an end, the Gunners offered a fair deal to Obi-Martin and his representatives - but the new and revised scholarship contract was turned down - with interested parties promising further upticks when Obi-Martin is able to put pen to paper on his first pro deal on his 17th birthday this November. 

The in demand teenager is understood to have visited United’s Carrington training centre earlier this month, with informal discussions already taking place.

A junior international for England and Denmark, he scored 10 goals in a 14-3 win for Arsenal’s under-16s last season

Obi-Martin also netted four times against Crystal Palace and Fulham, five versus West Ham United and seven in a meeting with Norwich City.

In total, the youngster scored 29 goals in 17 league matches for the Arsenal U18s.

As the Gooner previously reported, Obi-Martin also featured in Denmark’s 2024 UEFA European U17 Championship qualification campaign, netting twice in three group stage games.
