Arsenal: We're Proud of You

Jon Moule shares his pride in Mikel Arteta's Arsenal ahead of the trip to Manchester City

Arsenal: We're Proud of You

Given the manner of our recent run of drawn matches, it's fair to say they've felt more like defeats. Left with that nagging "what could have been" frustration, we've probably all started to study the remaining fixtures in a bit more detail.

As painful as it might feel now though, at the start of this season would you have believed anyone who'd said we'd be in this position eight months later, or that we'd be talking about a league title. Even the prospect of St Totteringham's Day, let alone of Champions League qualification, would have been open to a fair old debate. The first has already been achieved with games to spare, and at the time of writing we are on the cusp of making the latter become reality.

How many of us would have viewed a second place finish this season as a disappointing outcome? I know I wouldn't have done, yet here we are, looking beyond that and playing our part in a proper race for the title.

I've written previously in praise of some of our individual players, and of our manager, but the collective is no less full of promise.

Whatever the outcome, at the end of this season I'll look back with nothing but pride in our team - I'll relive the 3-2 win against Liverpool last October, the double over our noisy neighbours, and of course that glorious, wonderful, Reiss Nelson injury time winner against Bournemouth, when I thought The Emirates might actually fall down.

I'll get tingles when I think about the connection between the supporters and players that has built and built over the course of this season. And I'll think about the roar of our crowd, not just when we score, but also when a goal has been scored against us. I couldn't have imagined that happening a few seasons ago.

This campaign has already been memorable for so many reasons, and the return of Champions League football for the first time since 2017 will give us an amazing platform for further investment in this already brilliant team.

If they still made end of season highlights videos, we certainly wouldn't be short of clips to choose from. These days, I've only got to look at the number of Match of The Day recordings that I still have on my planner to know there have been many games I'll want to rewatch for some time to come yet.
