Arsenal Women U21s' hopes of back-to-back Academy League titles were ended by a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United U21 in the PGA U21s League play-off final.

Katie Reid and Vivienne Lia, who have both made their debuts for the senior team this season, started for Arsenal.

England captain Leah Williamson watched on from the stands to support the Young Gunners, with head coach Jonas Eidevall and head of women's football Clare Wheatley also in attendance.

Arsenal won the PGA U21 League South, finishing four points above Chelsea, to set up a meeting with northern division champions Manchester United.

Amelia Oldroyd gave United the lead in the 18th minute, before Arsenal’s Maddy Earl levelled on 68 minutes.

Tamira Livingston and Megan Sofield scored late on to seal the title for the Red Devils.
