Arteta demands in-form Arsenal maintain pressure on Premier League title rivals

Following Arsenal’s spectacular recent run of outstanding form which has underlined the club’s Premier League title credentials, Mikel Arteta is demanding his squad maintain momentum in the clash against Brentford.

With Jurgen Klopp’s table toppers’ Liverpool hosting second place Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, the chances are that your Premier League bet may be a tad close this weekend, so if you are looking for a distraction from the nerve jangling football, you could opt for the online slots while the big three battle it out for silverware. Not least because the rampant Gunners routed sorry Sheffield United 6-0 at Bramall Lane on Monday evening as the in-form North Londoners heaped further pressure on their title rivals.

With The Reds and City going head-to-head on Sunday, Arsenal have the chance to top the Premier League by kick-off at Anfield should Arteta's side beat Brentford in a North vs West London derby at Emirates Stadium the day before.

Reflecting on the powerful message Arsenal’s incredible run of form since our midwinter break in January sends to the club’s rivals, Arteta said: “It shows the quality and the consistency that the team is showing.

"The way that we have scored goals, not only the manner but the personnel, is a really positive thing to see. Then there’s the fact that we are conceding very little defensively so those ingredients together are very powerful to get results and consistency, and we want more.

“We know the demands that Brentford are going to ask us to win the match. We are still not [top of the league] and we want to be better than where we are at the moment, and the other two are, so we have to continue to win.

“There’s something amongst the team that they want to keep improving. They all believe that they have another gear or two to go and that's the level that we want to push them to.

“They have played more together, and understand the system better. They understand the way we have to compete and the demands that we have to put on ourselves better, and then the confidence grows when results go their way and the performance is good as well.”

Having scored a whopping 21 goals in the club’s last four matches while putting together seven straight league wins on the bounce since the start of the year, Arsenal are undeniably the most in-form team in the division right now – with boss Arteta demanding his team maintain their incredible run of  form heading into the international break, after which comes the season-defining trip to City at Easter.
